You can also call them. They are only human, things get lost in the shuffle sometimes. It wouldn't hurt to call and ask nicely about the status of your application.

I finally have some time to write about my experience. I'll briefly describe three events from UCI Law:

- Reigniting Community - Strengthening the Asian American Identity
- ELS: The Evolution of Gaming
- Debate on Popular Constitutionalism and Judicial Review [aka Dean Chemerinsky vs. Dean Kramer of Stanford Law School]

---

Reigniting Community - Strengthening the Asian American Identity
The 2-day event was amazing!!! I fully enjoy the excellent company, discussions, and food! The first night had an amazing buffet style containing great sushi, excellent spring rolls containing BOTH beef and shrimp(!!!), shrimp wantons and dumplings, beef buns, 5 different sauces, and Asian pastries (including pineapple custard bread). Also, they had an open bar containing 3 different whites, 3 different reds, and ~4 different beers!!! The next day, they still had great food, but nothing compared to the first night. They did have amazing tea ;)

For the event itself, the first night had a documentary regarding Vincent Chin. His death sparked the Asian American movement. The two people that killed him (white) was brutal... The injuries happened with a baseball bat and that his head was described as to be caved in. One witness described that one of the killers yelled "It's because of you ************s we're out of work." The Judge in the case sentenced the two killers to 3 years of probation and $3,000 fine... After appeals and whatnot (read the wiki link), the two killers were cleared of all charges...

The second day was filled with more discussions on various conversations. One topic that I find particular interest was Mixed APAs (Asian Pacific American) and how they identify themselves. For a study, when Mixed APAs are presented with choosing only White, Asian, and Other, half of the participants chose Other. Most interesting is how the employers identify Mixed APAs to be Asian without asking them their racial identity.

*Also, during the first night, I saw Dean Austin in jeans and a red sweater... It was a surreal experience.

---

- ELS: The Evolution of Gaming
The Entertainment Law Society held a panel that lasted for 2 hours. One of the panelist is Eric Roeder (General Counsel, Blizzard Entertainment). The topic was amazing!!! The panelist address the future of gaming and digital property. Additionally, they gave advice on how to pursue this field *HINT: be a great lawyer and have a great mentor*. Afterwards, I talked to Eric Roeder about E-Sports =). That was definitely my highlight. The other two panelist were amazing as well!

Besides that, not much more was to be gained besides the release date to SC2:HOTS and what is project "Titan."

Debate on Popular Constitutionalism and Judicial Review [aka Dean Chemerisnky vs. Dean Kramer of Stanford Law School]

Popular Constitutionalism is a stance that Dean Kramer holds in his book written ~2004. Back then, the idea could make sense but now seems very unlikely. ALSO, I do stress that this debate, let alone this recap, will not due justice on this topic. Here is my stance on this so you know where I am coming from: I think Popular Constitutionalism (from what I understand it to be) is impractical on so many levels.

In the nut shell (from what I garnered)
Popular Constitutionalism = Judaical Review without Judaical Supremacy
In other words, Congress has the authority to overrule any Supreme Court Decision... Personally, I see that there is a lot of problems with this (especially the Bi-Polar nature of Congress right now). Besides this, one of the most interesting debate topic was the last QA question. The last person asked for opinions on the possibility for Congress to pass both a law and provision that the Supreme Court cannot overthrow the passed law. Besides that question, Dean Chemerinsky made an interesting comment. He personally believes that there should be an 18-year term limit for the Justices (with, what I think, a 2-year transition period).

Ultimately, when confronted with confrontation, Dean Kramer speaks faster while Dean Chemerinsky becomes humbler . Also, when Dean Chemerinsky spoke for the first time during the debate (Dean Kramer and the Moderator began beforehand)--I know you will call me crazy--but I somehow heard a collective smile. Strange, isn't it! Also, after Dean Chemerinsky's opening, I heard people mumbling "WOW!"

Well that is all. I hope that helps. For the upcoming week, there is a UCI Law's Space Law Society's Lunch and the Pesticides: Domestic and International Perspectives from

Yeah, I've been complete since 1/27. I asked them in between the 7-8th week outside of the 4-6 week decision window what the status was. They said I was still under review and would be notified around 2-3 weeks later right around now.

Constantly checking this board to see if people are getting notifications.

I am still waiting too. I applied on 2/27. About a week and a half ago I received an email that was addressed to "class of 2015" - a reminder about the upcoming SIR deadline - and then another email about 15 minutes later saying that the first email was sent in error and that no final decision had been reached regarding my application. Did anyone else get the email by mistake?

This is not accurate. I met at least one student who got in off of the wait list for the class of 2014.

Same here. May have been the same person, but from what I remember he was ready to attend elsewhere and then mid-summer he was accepted.

Yes, I got that email as well. The law school gods giveth, then taketh away! FWIW, the follow-up email (sent March 28) said, "I anticipate that you will receive official notification within the next two weeks." Tomorrow will be two weeks.

All things considered, I'm not surprised I haven't heard back yet and don't expect to get in. I applied on Feb 29 with a 3.3/180.

For those of you who attended ASW, have any of you received your travel expense reimbursement yet?

Congrats on that 180. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to show continued interest if you are serious about attending.

Regarding last year's waitlist - from what I remember, Chem stated that they could have taken additional students off of the waitlist to reach their target number of students; however, since it would have lowered the LSAT/GPA #s, they decided not to.

Good luck to all still waiting!

Nope, but would love to soon.

Also, I got my award letter about 5 mins ago.

How does the award letter look? Any thoughts?

I got mine last week - it looks like I'll have to borrow ~61k/year to make it work. Lovely. I emailed Nasreen about need-based aid because I didn't get any. Maybe because I had to re-submit the FAFSA? I originally didn't have my dad's information on it.

Gross.

Oh you know, some scholly money, grant, and tons of loans.

Yeah, I'm anticipating a sh*t ton of loans too. UCI better be worth it
