Can you live somewhere more interesting and bike to UCI?

Just received my acceptance letter in the mail today. I am glad that they mentioned some form of reimbursement for visiting during Admitted Students Weekend. I want to visit campus, but traveling across the country is not going to be cheap.

Some UCI students live in Newport/Balboa, or the surrounding area, but its definitely not a bikable distance for every day. You'd need to drive.soitgoes9 wrote:Can you live somewhere more interesting and bike to UCI?

Dean chemerinsky just called me to say hey and ask of I had any questions. He seems really nice! I'm getting more and more excited about this school!

I just received several financial aid emails and a UCInetID. I haven't received an email or phone call admitting me, but I take this as a fairly good sign.

Haha probably. I was admitted weeks ago and haven't gotten any of that stuff.Bwana wrote:I just received several financial aid emails and a UCInetID. I haven't received an email or phone call admitting me, but I take this as a fairly good sign.

I got a letter from the financial aid office yesterday talking about need-based aid and that I need to fill out my FAFSA to get it. No mention of a scholarship or anything. Hopefully I get something because I'd love to go to UCI but I'm not ready to pay full price at a UC knowing that tuition is going to go up so much every year since the UC system and state of California are so messed up.

In as well! I'm hoping there might be some scholarship info in the letter that they mentioned in the email. Stats in profile. Does anyone know if they are doing an ASW or anything?

Admit day is March 24th. I think they offer a travel stipend, though I do not know how much.scottybared wrote:In as well! I'm hoping there might be some scholarship info in the letter that they mentioned in the email. Stats in profile. Does anyone know if they are doing an ASW or anything?

Did anybody receive their e-SIR link and log-in information? They said they will email it to us after January 2nd. Still no sign, but its still early. Just wondering since maybe financial aid/scholarship info will be on there

This is pretty discouraging. I went complete on 11/18 and haven't heard a word since. I don't get how you are all getting replies so quickly...

I received a financial aid information e-mail. It was just the basics, urging me to submit my FAFSA as soon as possible/looking into guaranteed housing options/etc. Nothing on merit scholarships... I'm wondering if they're going to send another letter (I wish they would just send a big packet).joetheplumber wrote:Did anybody receive their e-SIR link and log-in information?
