I won't be able to attend the Friday session of ASW. I was wondering if anyone that is going is willing to write a quick synopsis of the key information that is disseminated?

I visited already and can't make it there again for ASW.hipLonghorn wrote:I won't be able to attend the Friday session of ASW. I was wondering if anyone that is going is willing to write a quick synopsis of the key information that is disseminated?
I'd also really appreciate anyone who could relay important information or impressions from the visit.

Sidenote, I *might* have forgotten to ask for work off tomorrow. Yay for very reasonable bosses!
ETA: I feel like there should be a live update site or a twitter like when Apple hosts press events, haha (kidding; we'll report back here).

I RSVP'd yesterday and was initially told that the event was full due to tons of people attending. After a little prodding and mentioning some peer schools I was still very interested in they said they could make room for me. I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of people.TrojanHopeful wrote:I wonder how many people are expected to attend.

I was told by a credible source (aka UCI Law Professor): ~140-160.TrojanHopeful wrote:I wonder how many people are expected to attend.
Hope all have a good night's sleep. For me, it is just a 20 minute drive. See you all tomorrow (well today...)

Havin a good time but the only new info so far is that they are aiming for ~110 students for next year.

I thought it was interesting how absolutely positive the dean was that they'll debut in the t20. But overall, I really like it.splitbrain wrote:Havin a good time but the only new info so far is that they are aiming for ~110 students for next year.

Yeah, he specifically said 10 through 20 and was very confident about it. Overall impression is......WOW, impressive. Back at the room about to go to the brewery in a minute!Green Glass Windows wrote:I thought it was interesting how absolutely positive the dean was that they'll debut in the t20. Thanks for posting poached ASW info. Wish I could be there; visiting next week. As information about UCI Law is in short supply, I would love to know anything that you'd care to post, even if it seems trivial.

Some trivial things that I learned...
2 ply toilet paper in the stalls --- if you care about your legal shits
They have an indoor track in the gym but what some people don't know is that because it's shorter than a normal track, it's actually 11 times around to make a mile. The tour guide said some people thought they were running 3-4 miles.
Gym is open over Spring Break, Easter, and Memorial Day
Free shuttles run all around the campus
Law library is open only till 10, but you can drink coffee inside.
This year's class is just one big section but next year its going to be three sections, meaning only 1/3 of the class of '15 will be able to take Chemerinsky's class.

Woo long but enjoyable day. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to Steelhead tonight. Here's to another great day when I wake up in a few hours. TLS'ers should identify themselves somehow...
Anyone know if the SIR is a binding commitment? It's top choice now but I am on the waitlist for another 1 or 2 schools.
