I totally agree! Does anyone know if you are granted the Rothman if you HAVE to attend? Or would you just be stupid not to?

msb, it seems we are applying to all of the same schools lol. Anyways, I did not get the email and have been in first read since 12/13. Maybe a bad sign...

I didn't get it until my second read... maybe that has something to do with it

You do. On their website they say that when they call you and let you know you got it, you have 24 hours to make a decision.

Yeah, and there's only one per class, which makes it pretty special.

You don't have to accept it, but I would think they're pretty adept at weeding people out whom they suspect wouldn't take it. It's the beauty of having a sole recipient vs. the other elite full scholarships (Butler, Rubenstein, Darrow, RTK etc.), where they expect a few to decline in favor of HYS, or a full scholly at another school.

I think there was a TLS'er who was selected, but turned it down for a large amount of need based aid from Stanford. I definitely think that's an exception, and it may have even been the only time that they have had to select more than one person for the award.

I am. I'm not sure what to make of this. I'm guessing it probably isn't the best news because others with 11/21 review dates have been updated to 2nd read and final read. But I have no idea.

Agreed... :/ but their website says 2nd read shouldn't be taken as a good or bad thing... So maybe we will go to final review with no 2nd read? Just a thought but obviously I don't know.

Complete since 10/31. I broke down and called last week, and the woman who answered the phone told there was "no rhyme or reason" in deciding what order to look at applications. Lovely.
