Based on the profiles of some of the people who have been commenting on their USC apps, I'm guessing they used an LSAT cutoff to read some apps first this past month. Perhaps they are a little high in GPA/low in LSAT in the current class. Might be 167 (their median) or 169 (their 75).

I'm in with a 168, so I guess 167 is possible?

I talked about this a few pages back.. During an Interview, Dean Reid said they use LSAT and/or GPA (I cannot remember if it was both or just one) to put applicants in reading piles.

You're saying they start by looking at 167 (their median) and above? I think it may have more to do with GPA. I'm in second committee read and I don't have above a 167.

Numerical indicators (UGPA and LSAT) are important in our process and are initially used to help us “sort” files for review. But as I tell candidates, we need more than what I would affectionately call “brains and geeks” in the class. Candidates come in all different sizes, shapes, colors, and with different opinions, attitudes, experiences and accomplishments. We strive to have all of that reflected in the class, and that requires us to drill down into candidates’ files.

I have a 3.8/169 and I'm still stuck at 12/14 2nd committee read. So it seems there isn't an exact cut off.

same. I'm about 25% LSAT, maybe 60% GPA...2nd read as of 2/27..really seems to be no order to this.

167 URM here and have been spooning my 11/30 complete date for what feels like forever. She's such a prude...I'd love to take it to the next step but just don't know when it's going to happen. I want to take the initiative and ask her what the hell is up...but don't want to scare her off. Guess I'll just keep waiting for her to come around.

Hey guys-

I just called in and they said scholarships are being worked out right now, and will go out any time between tomorrow and a week from tomorrow. They also said there is no schedule yet for when Rothman interview invites would go out (You would think this would be soon, considering that they would take place in LA in two weeks...I guess they just assume most applicants live in Cali? 0.o)

I was excited too, but looking at TLS Stats form last year, they somehow seem pretty stingy with scholarships even though they are a private school...How odd.

Complete since 10/28; 1st read 2/15; 2nd read today. It looks like the torture will end soon. How many reads are there all together?

theoretically, there is supposed to be a first, second, and final read... if your case is like mine, there will be a first read, and then THREE SUBSEQUENT second reads, each spaced about 10-14 days apart, and you may feel like you are going crazy.
