Congrats!!! Did you receive the decision via mail? And how close are you to cali? My decision was finalized the same day, wondering how long I'll have to wait on the East Coastmushybrain wrote:Complete: 12/7

Same here, an hour after receiving my letter in the mail. FYI I'm in PA and it took 3 days from my "decision finalized" update on 1/24 for the letter to arrive herepdeturk wrote:Just got an email congratulating me on my acceptance!

it's been 2 weeks since i received the "application complete" e-mail, and i have still not received the status checker e-mail.
this is clearly pre-emptive rejection.

Re: USC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Sometimes status check emails somehow don't get through. The same thing happened to me with my Georgetown application. I just emailed the admissions office and politely asked if there was a mistake or if something unexpected happened. They emailed me back and said there was some sort of miscommunication and they resent the status check email.

Is there any chance they are dealing with the auto-admits/auto-rejects before dealing with everyone in between?

I don't think there is much rhyme/reason to what they are doing. My best guess is throw admissions darts at a wall of applications?

Re: USC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
i mean based on the stats of the above posters I would say they deal with autoadmits and autodenies then everything else after...

Yeah, and I do not quite fit in that box. Close, but I definitely disturb the symmetry.T00L wrote:Anyone seen the LSN graph? Its like a little box.

Re: USC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Considering there are only 300 people on lsn for USC, and figuring they will get at least 5500 applications as they have passed in the past few years, I wonder how representative the stats are. I assume most of the applicants have lower numbers because there is a higher ratio of acceptances to applicants on lsn, so I wonder how many, if any, applicants have been accepted from outside of that box this year.T00L wrote:Anyone seen the LSN graph? Re: USC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I actually think that USC hasn't admitted many people outside of the box yet. I believe that they will, because those admitted have pretty high numbers for USC, so I think they've pretty much only admitted auto-admits at this point. This has also helped me justify the way they have been moving quickly with some apps and ignoring others, but these, of course, are only theories.fo sho wrote:Considering there are only 300 people on lsn for USC, and figuring they will get at least 5500 applications as they have passed in the past few years, I wonder how representative the stats are. I don't have fantastic numbers by any stretch of the imagination, but enough that I applied to USC as one of my more "sure things." Applied in November, complete early December. Radio silence.Green Glass Windows wrote:I actually think that USC hasn't admitted many people outside of the box yet. What everyone has posted makes sense, but I really don't understand their process. Why go at a snails pace? Until I get accepted to a school, I don't focus on it too much. With other schools that have accepted me, I've planned out attending ASW, emailed some current/former students, gotten a decent idea of scholarship/COL, etc. It seems like it's only to USC's detriment to have people wait so long. Maybe they want people to withdraw once they know they wouldn't go no matter what. I don't know.
It makes sense if you're YHS, but otherwise? Maybe it goes a long way to explaining their 20% yield vs. UCLA's 30% (pure conjecture).
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
