Mine sat like that for weeks, until the 21st. Then Decision Made followed by an email a day later. I'll be at the Post Office early tomorrow looking for the award notice.

UPDATE: The paper acceptance arrived with yesterday's (Monday) mail.

Offer $18,000/yr, 2.9GPA stip

Good luck to everyone else. With the offer, Willamette just kept themselves in the running. I'll know for sure after next week's campus visit.

It takes awhile for you to go from Complete. You could be placed on the Wait List for an indefinite amount of time, up until even June of the year in question.

Also, as a warning, please be aware that Willamette University College of Law has a first semester drop policy. If your 1L first semester GPA is not 1.8, you will be "excluded" from attending the spring semester. There is a readmission process, and the committee could decide to accept/reject your readmission letter. After that, the 1L first year GPA minimum is 2.0. Starting your 2L, it will be a 2.25 (or so) GPA. Read the student handbook, even the 2011-2012 available online right now.

As I mentioned earlier, the attrition rate is high, and first semester 1Ls are even affected. If you do not meet the minimum GPA requirement of 1.80 the first semester of law school, you will be excluded from attending the spring semester. You could apply for readmission for fall of the following year, and hope you are accepted. You will be then be given the chance to (1) keep your grades as is and have it count on your gpa or (2) start over by retaking the classes, which will restart your gpa from scratch. HOWEVER, the issue is that your prior grades will remain on your record.

The student handbook lists the minimum GPA requirements but in a nutshell:

1L first semester: 1.80
1L after first year: 2.00
After 3+ semesters, a minimum GPA of 2.25

For petition for readmission:
1. A student who has been excluded for failure to maintain the required GPA may petition for readmission but only after the student has remained out of school for at least one semester.

2. REadmission is a matter of law school discretion rather than a matter of right. REadmission is allowed only in exceptional cases.

If you fail out of law school, and then are subsequently denied readmission, you could decide to reapply for law schools, but the ABA requirements are:

Standard 505. PREVIOUSLY DISQUALIFIED APPLICANT
A law school may admit or readmit a student who has been disqualified previously for academic reasons upon an affirmative showing that the student possesses the requisite ability and that the prior disqualification does not indicate a lack of capacity to complete the course of study at the admitting school. In the case of admission to a law school other than the disqualifying school, this showing shall be made either by a letter from the disqualifying school or, if two or more years have elapsed since that disqualification, by
the nature of interim work, activity, or studies indicating a stronger potential for law study. For every admission or readmission of a previously disqualified individual, a statement of the considerations that led to the decision shall be placed in the admittee’s file.

Interpretation 505-1
The two year period begins on the date of the original determination to disqualify the student for academic reasons.

Interpretation 505-2
A student who enrolled in a pre-admission program but was not granted admission is not a student who was disqualified for academic reasons under this Standard.

Also, if you plan to reapply, you should reconsider taking your LSAT to increase your chances of getting into a better school.

Damn, I wish I could have made it out to that. Unfortunately, their travel stipend is a bit less that what I was expecting!

Msu (and whoever else is interested), I was also at the Willamette event today and thought it was extremely well put together. I'm having a really hard time reconciling between the 18k I received at Willamette and the 10k at Seattle U. I didn't even really consider Willamette a contender until I attended this event. Its proximity to the entire Oregon state government is very attractive as well.

Got waitlisted here...wondering how long it is going to take for a decision. The letter said it could be as late as August :/ Hopefully it is just because the school received so many applications when they waived the admissions fee
