abbottsbar wrote:Jenn6406, if you look at the historical graphs on LSN and the numbers that are reported on TLS stats, the acceptances so far seem to fit the decisions that UR has made in that past.
For whatever reason, there don't seem to be a lot of applicants this year who are around the UR medians in both categories. It seems that there are a lot of splitters and reverse splitters. It also appears that, based on the information available, most who were at the median for the LSAT and were at/above the 25th percentile for GPA have been admitted.
From looking at LSN, it looks like they generally come out with their waitlist towards the end of March, so you may end up there. That said, ymmv, as I'm by no means an expert on Richmond's admissions process.
Yeah, you're right. That does seem to be the case. Thanks for your response, I appreciate your help!

I just sent in my negotiation email so hopefully some of it will shift my way. Best of luck.

Did anybody on here go to the open house this weekend? I am going to the one on 3/30 and would like to know what to expect. How many people were there? What is appropriate to wear? Was it informative/ helpful?
Anyone else attending this weekend?

Stop with the mailings at this point -- it borders on cruel and unusual punishment.
+1
Agreed.

I attended the open house on 3/23 - it seems like everyone was dressed business casual (nice tops and pants/skirts for girls, button downs and khakis for guys). Not too many people there, we were seated in the mock courtroom and it was full, but it isnt a huge space. There was a mini-class/talk given by Professor Douglass in the beginning of the day that focused on lawyering skills/trial advocacy, which ended up being awesome. Lunch with the faculty was interesting since the faculty rotated around the tables and took the time to tell you a little about themselves and the classes they teach. I found the beginning of the day to be pretty informative, although the end of the day is a bit less informative for those who have already visited the school. It was a gorgeous Richmond day on Friday though, and this Friday looks to be just as nice. Its nice to visit the campus on a sunny day!

The Dean wouldn't actually handle that. There are quite a few on campus jobs though. There is a job fair in the first month of school where you can apply in bulk. The jobs only pay up to about $10 an hour. You might want to mark work study on your financial aid package, but even if you don't the school has non work study jobs too.
Like all ABA schools you sign a pledge to work no more than 20 hours a week.
The BAR Prep companies all hire 1L school reps and the library hires clerks and computer tech support too.

Looking forward to meeting some of you tomorrow! It's looking more and more like I am getting a UNC wait list which means I will be Richmond all the way!

Just made the incredibly difficult decision to withdraw from the JM. If there are any alternates in here, I hope you get my spot!

Waitlisted. Richmond's a reach for me so I'm pleased with the news. They told me in the letter their applicant pool's the highest it's ever been so I doubt I'll be admitted.

Best of luck getting off the WL. Don't know how the numbers at ASW translate to people actually attending, but there weren't that many people there today.

Thanks, I'll probably need it. I believe you also applied to Maryland, my #1? They've waitlisted me too! This is my fifth waitlist. My softs are amazing but unfortunately my numbers have made me toxic, lol.

Yeah, Maryland is the last school I have to hear from. I'm pretty torn between them and UR.
I pretty much did everything wrong this cycle, but somehow pulled out a few acceptances. I was terrified my old 2.7 GPA was going to shut every door. I'm hoping you get off the WL for both.

The only info I have came from on here, but it appears in the past they have had a priority wait list.

+1 3.4, 161. Idk what is taking them so long. Only Richmond and W&M haven't gotten back to me out of 18 schools. I guess the state of Virginia just likes to take it slow.
+1 3.84, 161 and not a word from Richmond. Tons of promotional literature, but no word about a decision ... Applied about 3 months ago. Annoying.

Yeah ... Unfortunately not bullshit. That was completely true, and obviously I'm not the only one out there in that boat.

Not sure how much this impacts those who received the waitlist email, but I just got an email from Dean Rahman citing a 20% increase in applicants for this cycle.
