I feel like if I take a year off I will never get up the motivation to go back. I have gotten into 5 other schools and am putting a seat deposit down at Elon University. I am also waitlisted at Washington and Lee, William and Mary, American, and George Mason but I really want U of R. I have family in Richmond and grew up there so moving back there would be ideal plus I love the school.
It only took me a decade after I decided not to go to law school in 2003 to get my motivation back, so I don't blame you.

I'm hopeful for you that showing the initiative to contact the dean will help push you over the top.

She told me she had her fingers crossed for me as well. I hope she can untie her fingers by the time the cycle ends!

I called the admissions office this morning just to again let them know I want to stay on the list and they were really noncommittal about when they would be letting people know anything but the letter seemed more optimistic than the lady on the phone was

I really appreciate everyone who is withdrawing if Richmond is really not where you want to go. Remember please don't pay the seat deposit if you don't think you want to go to the school it just makes everyone on the waitlist have to wait until June or later to fill your opening. Free up some spaces for those of us on the waitlist who are desperate to get in and Richmond is our #1.

Hey guys, another Richmond 1L here. Congrats to those that have been admitted. I'm from Ohio and I love Richmond thus far. Also, I am married and commute from over an hour away, so I can potentially offer some insight to any that may be considering a commute and/or are married. If any of you have any questions, feel free to post here or PM me.

Disclosure, I was pretty much at exactly both medians, not a splitter here.

After visiting Richmond this morning, it is absolutely my first choice school, should I be accepted. The admissions staff were wonderful, the campus is beautiful...fingers crossed to get off the waitlist now.

does anyone know how many people were accepted of the waitlist last cycle?

I am wondering realistically what are the chances of being accepted off the waitlist...

the waiting is driving me crazy and I am probably over analyzing but I can't help it

Received an oddly-worded letter from the mail about how I could improve my odds of admissions if I take the June LSAT and up my score...

Are you considering retaking in June?

If Maryland and/or Richmond don't get back to me by mid-May, absolutely. I did worse on the actual test than when I took my first practice test without any studying!

I'm sure you'd kill it in June. Are you considering a year off if you bump your score up considerably?

The only school I'd wait a year for is Georgetown, only because it's where I've wanted to go since forever. I'm fortunate in that I have a job lined up after graduation, I just need to be admitted somewhere I'll be happy in.

I just have to interject that I did take the test twice. . .the first time I only studied for about a month and that was while taking care of a newborn. . .not very consistent study.

I was placed on the waitlist that year. . .the next year I applied with my higher score (only 5 points higher) and was awarded a nice, nice scholarship. . .a few points is a really big difference and while I didn't like waiting that year while it was happening, I'll really appreciate it when I have $60,000 less debt upon graduating. . .

I just withdrew yesterday. It was a really tough school to say no to, but in the end I had to go with the least amount of debt possible

Regular. I'll send you a PM.

It was weird. The letter said if by June a seat opens up they'll contact me, but then asked me to inform the school if I'd be retaking. Why should I notify the school if I'm retaking? That would obviously deter them from accepting me until my new score arrives.
