I heard that Three-year degrees reduce student financial burden so I might as well try it. I hope someone here could give me advises and opinions about it.
Sandy, if you go to Maryland full-time, it will take you three years. If you go part-time, it will take you four. Hope this helps!

It would benefit all of those still waiting to hear from Maryland if you withdrew as soon as possible.
HLS worthy insight right here. It would benefit all those from Ghana if Luis Suarez weren't a cheater too.
I don't really understand your reaction. I was in no way criticizing you, just encouraging you to withdraw soon if you are 100% sure about doing it.

FWIW I am not even on Maryland's waitlist. Just thought you might like to help the others in this thread as much as possible. You've been in since last year. Two more weeks makes no difference to you, but they could potentially have a huge impact on the others in this thread.

I have my reasons for not yet having withdrawn, but honestly I just wanted to use the Uruguay reference.

Admitted via snail mail today! Pretty pleasantly surprised :)

So originally this wasn't one of my top contenders but it has become one and I was wondering if anyone could tell me a bit more about the school and its reach, etc. I'm a foreign student so I'm not as familiar with it but they seem to be solid in rankings, employment stats, etc. Any good feedback on Maryland?

Well, it's not Suarez's fault that Ghana can't make a simple penalty kick

Same question. Need to know whether there is hope or not.

Anybody?

An award does not come with the acceptance letter (that I know of). They contact you and ask you to interview for an award. I have read here that Maryland is somewhat stingy with their awards. There was a chat with admissions a few weeks ago, and I believe they said that they do awards through the summer (don't quote me on that).

As it's getting to close to seat deposit time for most schools I would assume that movement around now is probably a good thing, right? Just went under review yesterday.

I received my "packet" by email today, deposit is coming up on 4/6.

Did anyone receive scholarship info in their "packet" who was recently accepted?

I received my packet today too - no info on scholarships. (Idk? I'd think I would qualify?)

Not yet. I have one written but I don't want to send it now in case it becomes outdated if/when I land a job.

Unless you're sure you'll find out about that job over the weekend I would send it that LOCI now.

But the adcomm told me I shouldn't rush since they won't even start looking later into our files until a few more weeks.

I'm still on "Application received, 3/5"

So, yeah. Nothing yet.... waiting.

BTW, how are job prospects for the DC market... I'm curious for any current students. Baltimore is good, no? I think I could live in B-more....

It's tough, man. Do some research in the employment forums here on TLS. I'm just a 0L but from what I understand, the stiff competition from Georgetown, George Washington and to a lesser extend American and George Mason makes it difficult for UMD grads to place into DC.

UMD does do well in the state of Maryland, but our market is very small and as such highly competitive.

Maryland placed 38 grads in DC in 2011. That's about 14% of the class. That ain't bad. Also placed 61 (!) in fed/state/local clerkships. Also quote solid.

Is the MD market very small and competitive? I was thinking the MD market is nice since the areas are small yet populated, the law schools are few and the state's one of the richest in the union.

Just look at the stats. 181/297 grads placed in MD.
