Do you mind sharing your stats?

Does anyone know how many more (admit) decisions they are going to be sending out this week? Or, does anyone know an ETA for when those applicants still waiting to hear anything from UNC should give up hope?

Thanks!

The lady told me that I should start looking elsewhere if I don't hear anything this week.

So does that mean that they are finished sending out there "first round" of acceptances?

That's what it sounds like. Sounds like they are now doing it on a strictly rolling basis.

A fellow applicant and NC resident just told me he withdrew this week despite UNC being his original #1 choice. He is on his way to Vandy now. Said he was just too dissapointed with UNC's lack of professionalism.

Maybe those who have been accepted to other higher ranked schools will begin to lean in the opposite direction of UNC which should help those of us willing to wait it out till August.

Just got a quick, helpful response back from Jennifer in the admissions office...not sure about the "first round", but the impression I got is that they still have admit decisions to make i.e. not all remaining decisions are going to be strictly waitlist/deny. She said they had extended approx. 400 admissions offers so far which, by a back of the hand calculation, would put them below their numbers from past years, unless they plan to admit a LOT off of the waitlist.

Well their applicant pool was down a little from last year accord to a news report but does that also mean they want a smaller 2015 class? Sorry I'm so pissed off with them. I feel as if I being drug through the mud in this admission progress.

info like this, hokie, and myself reinforces my perception that they may have yet to send some of their OOS admits considering all of our respective stats are well within range

Spoke to the admissions office...

If you do not hear back by next Tuesday, then you will not be in this week's batch.

If you do not hear back by May 1, then you are waitlisted or denied.

That is how it is going to happen. Everything else is speculative, so I hope this concrete information helps.

wait...they are notifying AFTER May 1 for waitlists/denies?? that is ridiculous. i thought all files would have a decision by May 1.

Based on my conversation(s) with the admissions staff members, this is my understanding...

They have a much more thorough review process than nearly ALL law schools (apart from perhaps Northwestern), and due to the extensive review each applicant's file receives, it is tough (I'm sure) to get all of their decisions out by April 1. I'm sure this is even more difficult given the fact that they probably receive applications worthy of consideration right up to the deadline.

Seeing as how they have received thousands of applications this year, it is not a huge surprise that it would take them up until May 1. I understand the frustration with seat deposit deadlines passing all around us, and the agonizing wait, but it does seem like they are nearing the finish line.

I can't imagine they have too many more acceptance letters to send out, but here is what I gathered through my conversations:

- One more batch of acceptances was supposed to go out before this week ended, but due to Good Friday, will likely be out next Monday or Tuesday.
- We already saw a batch go out on 4/2, and if the above holds true, we'll see another on 4/9
- I was told they had "decisions" going out up until May 1. I then asked if I did not receive a decision by May 1, would it be safe to assume that I had been waitlisted or denied, and my assumptions were affirmed.
- Thus, although it is a little speculative, I am guessing they have one batch going out per week up until that May 1 deadline. Then, anyone who has not heard one way or another by that date can expect a waitlist or denial letter shortly there after.

All of us still waiting are in the same boat and all we can do now is wait patiently. I just wanted to share what I learned through my conversations with the admissions office to hopefully offer some hope to those of us who are still waiting.

I hope that anyone using this forum that has received a decision (of any kind) would be willing to share the dates of those decisions, as well as their stats, as this is truly the only non-speculative, helpful information at this point.

Best of luck to everyone, and congrats again to those who have been accepted in the fall!

+1

I am 162/3.4 IS and at this point I would love to know how my application compares to the rest of the people still waiting for a decision.

Carolina is my #1 choice so all I can do is try to be patient I guess. I just hope that I don't get waitlisted and have to wait until July/August...
