Has anyone received the formal letter alluded to in the acceptance email?

My status checker says "Accept letter mailed" on 11/03 and I live only a few Zip Codes over from Fordham so I should be getting it today.

Can anyone shed some light on how long it took to hear from Fordham after submitting your application? I submitted mine on 11/3 and haven't received any response yet (no email, nothing). I realize it wasn't too, too long ago, but most schools' turnaround seems to be a day or two max.

As I recall it was about a week between submitting and having it show up "complete" on my status checker. You won't receive an email until a decision has been reached; that could take weeks or months.

I haven't gotten anything either, submitted 11/5. Not even a status checker.

Mine was slightly more fun than expected...

But considering total cost of attending, yes, slightly less than fun.

One thing I'd like to say about the schollys...
Fordham really isn't being stingy: they honestly don't have the same kind of buckage that some other schools have.
It sucks. It does. I mean, I think the trade off is that you're in NYC.... but yes.
Just know that they aren't dissing you, if they offer less money than other schools in your range.

And they do offer some limited financial aid. There is just now way in hell I'm taking on almost full sticker price of attending Fordham in loans. I would love to go there, but I'm trying to be reasonable about the loan debt I'm comfortable taking on.

Question, for those that were accepted: did you go under review before getting accepted or did it stay at complete?

Went from complete to getting the acceptance email, without going under review. However, if I remember correctly some people did go under review.

How are you determining this? size of endowment? My theory has always been that they know they can lure people to new york whether they give them money or not. I mean the school is building a gleaming new building and the dean takes home as much salary as any dean around, and they have no money?

Some help in getting money from Fordham:

1. Wait till as close to the deposit deadline as possible.
2. Don't withdraw from 1 good school.
3. Call Fordham. Tell them you've been accepted to said school and that moving to this school will be less pricey than Fordham or that said school with $XXXXX scholarship makes this a tough decision for you and is there any way for the office to help make the decision easier because you really, really want to go to Fordham.
4. Obviously, do this only if this applies to you-- if you have not gotten into another good school, then I don't know if my method will work for you.

This may help you either get some money out of nothing, or raise the scholarship you already have. It worked for me.

Good luck!

+1
This goes in general for all schools. I didn't squeeze any $$$ offers out of BU until after I already got the letter from them saying all offers are final, if you received nothing too bad. You have more bargaining power later on in the cycle (especially with the declining applicants, school will start to realize they aren't going to hit their LSAT/GPA quotas and will get desperate). You don't even really need a $$ offer, I told Fordham about my acceptance to peer schools and that was enough to start the negotiating process.
