How does Fordham notify of decisions? Or at least how have you all first found out? status checker, email, or the dreaded snail-mail?

do you have to stay for the entire ASD or at what point would it be acceptable to slip out?

Just got a scholarship offer via email and I'm pretty thrilled. Is it standard to email them back thanking them, or what? This is the first time I'm receiving a scholarship offer through email instead of snail mail, so I'm not sure what the standard etiquette is.

Fordham only offered 10k a year. After getting 35k from BU, and being up for aid at Georgetown, I'm withdrawing. Good luck, everyone!
edit: if I would be up for significantly more financial aid, will Fordham give me financial + merit, or only merit?

Great, thanks. Who did you address it to?dingbat wrote:I didssteiner wrote:Just got a scholarship offer via email and I'm pretty thrilled. Is it standard to email them back thanking them, or what? EDIT: Also, is it worth trying to get them to offer me more? I got a 30k/year offer. While I know that that's at the high end and that they have limited funds, I was still hoping to get a little bit more money, honestly. Problem is I don't have anything to negotiate with. I've only applied to NY schools, and have nothing from NYU/Columbia as of yet, though I do have a full ride from Cardozo. So is negotiating worth it at all at this point?

It doesn't hurt to try, but be aware that they max out at $35k (which is rare)ssteiner wrote:Great, thanks. Cardozo doesn't count - they're not in the same league (I got big bucks from them too)
I'm also in the dark on NYU and Columbia, but I doubt I'll get any money at this stage, to I'm fairly certain I'll end up rooting for the rams
(I'd thank whoever you've been in contact with - in my case it was espiritu)

For those going to the admitted students day tomorrow, is there assigned reading for the Mock class? if so, where can I access it.

Agreed with last poster. Cardozo full ride means nothing to Fordham. If you don't have leverage, don't bother attempting to negotiate. wait until you have leverage. 30k is a big deal congrats!dingbat wrote:It doesn't hurt to try, but be aware that they max out at $35k (which is rare)ssteiner wrote:Great, thanks. An admitted student sat in on one of my classes the other day. The professor let us know, and then I did him the favor of suggesting he stand up and tell us about himself, and his hopes and dreams. He took it like a champ.dingbat wrote:Nope. I figured Cardozo wasn't really going to count. Hopefully I'll get something from NYU or Columbia, though I'm not expecting anything, and will be able to use that for negotiating. If not, the offer Fordham gave me is still solid. I'm grateful for it.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
