Application Timeline
http://law.fordham.edu/admissions/612.htm

Once an application becomes complete, an applicant will receive a decision approximately 6-8 weeks after the completion date.
Application Requirements

  • JD Application (through LSAC, or request a paper application by emailing lawadmissions@law.fordham.edu)

  • $70 non-refundable application fee

Good luck guys! I'm a 1L here, I just wanted to make sure Fordham got a decent thread.
I'll be around to answer any questions you all have as well.

Applied for the PT Evening division 10/24. Got my status checker ID and it says they've received my app. Fordham is my #1.

Applied in the past few days. Fordham is one of my top prospects, really like the school, love the location. I met reps at a LSAC forum and they were very personable. Hoping for a good cycle, good luck everyone!

Does anyone know when the first decisions start going out?

Why is Fordham not sending out any decisions yet? I have been complete for over a month now.

Ask some 3Ls you see around campus if they have jobs.

Hey now. Don't go derailing a nice thread in an on-topic forum.

If all people have to go on is good vibes from the reps at the LSAC forum then I think there is other pertinent info they may wish to know about, that's all.

This question is to people who are actually currently attending. Based on what you see and hear, what percentage of students get big law? Would a 10-15 percent estimate be close?

To those who are attending what factors other than location separate Fordham from schools such as BU and BC?

none. Simple location. You want to be in Boston or in NYC after you graduate.

The biggest thing really is location. If you want NY Big law and don't go to a T14 this is as good as it gets.
I've heard around here prior to attending how bad the area/facilities are, but you can't just go on hearsay. Once I actually visited for myself I loved the area and the school. Plus you guys might actually get to spend your last year in the new facilities (if you haven't heard about the project, they're building an entirely new law school which looks AWESOME).

The people here are great. I got a much more competitive vibe from BU, but the other students here are very laid back.
(Con - Fordham is stingier with scholarships than BU/BC, but they will negotiate - BU/BC/Fordham all negotiate to my knowledge, worked for me)

And don't mind the troll. Most of the upperclassmen I've spoken to seem to be doing fine. It isn't a guarantee of a good job, but nothing is ITE.

I agree with this. I looked at BU as well and had a similar vibe. It really comes down to location, as both MrA and NYC have said.

I think common sense says that if you want a laid back vibe you should avoid NYC, surely avoid professional programs in NYC, and not be gunning for biglaw or attend a school that people view as a biglaw launching pad for those who couldnt break the t14. Though you could replace NYC with any east coast city. I happen to think the vibe from all students everywhere is largely the same. As to the job situation, rather than trolling, i'll say what I hear and see. I hear some people have jobs, I hear some people don't. What's disheartening about those who don't is that there is nothing about them that makes me think "duh of course he/she couldn't get a job / he/she is poorly spoken / he/she is socially awkward". I don't know anyone's class standing, but they seem like smart, eager students, who just can't find work. What's really disheartening is when I hear night students who already have dynamic interesting careers talk about their legal job search and they cannot find anything. I had a teacher who polled a small class to find out what everyones plans were and the vast majority of 3Ls were vague or silent. A common refrain is "I thought it would be better for our class" and I have heard that two years running now so I don't know if it will ever end. Now, is the situation any different at any other school anywhere including BU/BC or wherever? I doubt it. I think NYC has the most positions for lawyers by number and if you want to be a lawyer and you have a non toilet school degree then you will eventually find something here.

Checking in. App for PT submitted 10/25, went complete 10/26. Fordham is my #1 choice, not sure what my chances are though but hoping for the best.

[Long blahblahblah from POV of a current 2LE, edited to prevent boredom-induced thread death] :D
Suffice to say that my experience in the evening program has been quite different from what MrAnon is describing: would be happy to discuss what I know about employment prospects/situations of current/former evening students (especially those who work/ed throughout), via PM.
In fact, anyone with questions for a 2L - especially for an Evening/PT student - feel free to shoot me a PM!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
