I guess my real question is - is it worth going if admissions doesn't even know we're there? Clearly we all want to visit for ourselves because we really want to attend but how will admissions know of our efforts to "show" interest if we can't even formally introduce ourselves while on campus? lol

MAKE SURE YOU SEE SOMEONE IN ADMISSIONS!!!
Be honest, passionate, and committal. They want to know if you are taken off of the WL you will enroll. Speak about your personal qualities and what you have to add to the incoming class. As an evening student, make sure you convey that you intend to remain an evening student. There is too much migration into day from evening program. I hope this helped.

I can't really compare PT to FT, since I've only done PT, but it's still pretty competitive. You'll have to work quite hard to get the grades you want, because the curve is so tight. (Case in point, I was the second-lowest person who got the grade I got in one class last semester. But my prof told me that if I had missed one more issue on the final, I would have been a grade lower. And if I hadn't misstated and misapplied the law on another issue, I might have been a grade higher. That seems like an exceedingly tight curve to me.)

As BLB mentioned a page or two ago, a lot of the people in the program are just kids waiting to transfer into the day program, so they're able to spend even more time studying. I think that makes the curve even tighter. Personally, I hope that changes next year when most of the non-working people transfer to the day ... which answers your second question: you can transfer very easily. I think there's an extra fee, but it's the fee to balance the charges out to make sure you're paying full tuition for the entire program.

I had far larger scholarships from higher ranked schools if you count WUSTL, Minnesota, UIUC, W&M, and IUB. In the end I didnt find those rankings differences equated to a real gain over Fordham. Manhattan is definitely pricey so it's a big choice. I likely would have have taken slightly less money from the lower end of the T14 (I didn't apply higher than that) but more Midwest money didn't equate to a better choice in the end, for me. I think following the money is generally the best option, but once you get into the high teens and 20s, rankings themselves become pretty neglible and they fluctuate on a variety of things outside of placement. Overall I just recommend taking a very holistic approach in your decision and decide what school is really the best for YOU.

I'm running into this too. I have close to a full ride at one higher-ranked school, and have been admitted to one t-14 (still under consideration at 5 other t-14's), yet I have not received anything by way of merit aid from Fordham. I'm not expecting them to match the other offers, but I do feel like if I have worked hard enough to gain admission to a t-14, then I have also worked hard enough to not pay sticker at a t-30. Tried negotiating and am hitting a wall. Come on, Fordham... at least make me an offer of 5-10k/year...

I like Fordham, I really do, but it's hard to justify spending the same price on Fordham that I would on a t-14, even if it is in NYC.

2. Even if they do give you money in the end, it will probably not be more than 10k. This dude (http://lawschoolnumbers.com/juju96) got 15, and BOTH his lsat/GPA is better than yours.
3. Is 5-10k really worth choosing Fordham over a full ride to a higher ranked school? You'd still be 200k in debt for Fordham. Terrible idea.

Unless you're talking T14 or UCLA/USC/UT/Vandy, there are no "much higher ranked schools"
If you got a scholly to a T14, you probably shouldn't even consider going to Fordham.
UCLA/USC don't place in the same market (and neither do the rest of the T30)

So, if you really want to be in NY, your answer is easy.
If not, go for the money

But yeah, Fordham doesn't have a lot of money to give out -which is made worse by the fact that Fordham still gives out a decent amount of need based aid

Yes, this. The PT program (at least in my year) is incredibly competitive. Or maybe I just hang with the really competitive crowd: most of my friends are Law Review/Urban Law Journal, Moot Court (or other competitive teams), Dean's List. Switching to Day/FT division is easy - you just fill out the paperwork by the deadline.

Was more ranting than asking for advice, but since you offered it...

1. Not true... for instance, look at Jubilee from last year's cycle (171/3.08, 19k/yr).

3. As much as I appreciate your thoughts on life, I never said anything about borrowing 200k. I will not be borrowing anywhere close to that amount, even at sticker. My situation is a lot more complicated than you are assuming. Involves spouse, employment, geographic family concerns, etc.

Why is Fordham so stingy with money? They basically told me, very nicely, they didn't give a shit Cardozo gave me $40k a year guaranteed, they weren't giving me a dime. Do they just not want me to attend (I get this distinct feeling). Or do they really feel they are worth $120,000 more than Cardozo? I just don't get it.

I have a slightly unrelated question so I hope this doesn't throw anyone off... but I'm thinking about living at the Wilshire Plaza apartments that Fordham runs, off-campus on 58th street. Does anyone here live there/know anything about it?
