Has anyone admitted in the last 2-4 weeks been offered a scholarship? I don't want to seem greedy or entitled by asking for an update, but I need to know for decision making purposes...

How was the retreat?

The retreat was awesome. The food was great. Got to check out the beach. Everyone was EXTREMELY nice. The trial advocacy part on Saturday was cool. Couldn't have gone better. The area really is beautiful.

+1. It was really amazing. If anyone hasn't got the chance to check out the campus and meet the staff there, I'd definitely recommend it. The campus is gorgeous, and every single person I met there was genuinely nice. Campus is 4 miles from the beach. You can just tell that every student at Stetson is treated as a person, not just a number. Besides the sunburn I got yesterday, the weekend was pretty perfect.

I got a scholarship of about 90% of tuition (30k per year) not sure what was holding them from full but works for me I guess. The stip is top 50% of class. Does anyone have any perspective of the challenge of that? Also what are other people getting in regards to stips

I don't know of anybody who has lost their scholarship due to the top 50% requirement. That's not to say that nobody has, but I haven't heard of it. I was concerned about it myself when I came to Stetson. Ask Darren or Laura Zuppo, but I believe there is a probation period if you fall out of the top 50%. I think they assign you a professor to help you and give you a semester or two to pull it back up (and might let you keep it even if you just show significant improvement without getting back into the top 50%). Again, not sure on all the details of that, so I would ask about it.

Do you know if any section stacking or anything similar occurs? How are full-tuition scholarships generally split between sections? Thanks!

I think the distribution is pretty even. Never heard of section stacking here.

Anyone committed to going to Stetson and began their housing hunt already? I'm from DC and I'm planning on securing a place in May but I'm feeling discouraged doing internet searches I'll be able to get a decent place for a decent price.

Compared to other law schools, that is a pretty generous stip. My scholarship is a bit different. I get $20k a year guaranteed or $30k a year if I remain in the top 10%.

Also, though some students have never heard of someone losing their scholarship for being below median, I'm sure it's happened before. A lot of my friends with scholarships still have them, but their rankings aren't so hot. Definitely don't come into school assuming you'll be one of the smartest because you got a scholarship, then let yourself coast. Some of my friends were in that boat and are scrambling to improve their GPA now. Otherwise, shouldn't be too hard to keep your scholarship.

Yeah I am sure people lose their scholarships so I will take the stip seriously.

I received the standard email waiving my fee so I figured I'd apply and see what happens. I know its late but why not? I've never really heard much about the school although from what I read they rank just outside the top 100 so that's not terrible. I'm from NY/NJ area, Rutgers grad and applied to all the tier 2/3 schools around here.

I have a 3.4 with a 155 so my grades are nothing to write home about although i did have one real bad semester and finished up with a 3.9 each of my last 4 semesters. I'm also part hispanic (not mexican or PR) but that probably wont help much in Florida (or NY for that matter).

Campus looks beautiful (especially from what I'm used to here) although very concerned about job prospects and the cost to a lesser degree. I do have no problem about living in Florida (great lifestyle down there) although seems like their specialties are Elder Law and trial advocacy but I am not planning on litigating. I think its also safe to say, I wont be getting any money from them...

I'm interested in finding out more about job prospects, the school itself, housing basically anything since Stetson is basically an unknown up here...

Anyone that applied for full-time get offered a part-time spot?

This is my big issue, and I'm the fence about whether I'm going to keep Stetson as one of my contenders or not. It's in-state for me, with a beautiful campus in an area I like (though still quite a few hours from home) but it is very expensive. I had really hoped to get a scholarship with a 158+ LSAT. I suppose my 3.3 GPA (round-a-bouts) may have made this an impossibility.

So my question is this: Are any of you seriously considering Stetson at sticker price?

I've also been accepted to Miami and while I realize that the tuition difference between the two is noticeable, I wonder if job prospects are much different.

That's my main issue. I'm not worried much about price since its actually cheaper than every school I applied to (except for Rutgers) The campus looks incredible and even though I'm a jersey boy, I know that Tampa/St. Petes is a great area but I would have to basically commit myself to living in Florida. That's a huge commitment to make at 23, not to mention that it seems like Stetson doesn't even place well down in Miama/Ft. Lauderdale either...

When do you think would be a good time to ask?

I was accepted to Stetson on 1/24, but still haven't received a scholly offer...Right now, Stetson is my #1 choice, but I obviously can't ignore scholly offers from other schools. How do ya'll think is the best way to go about mentioning this to Stetson?

Is there an admitted students weekend coming up? Maybe then. It depends on when you receieved the scholarship. I wouldn't request too soon after receiving the scholarship, but make sure you have enough good offers from other schools to negotiate with.
