In moments like this I am glad that the economy is better and that we have a new career office. Lets now hope that Italy doesnt send the World economy into a recession.

I hope that's true. That would certainly be impressive if ~40 2ls had SAs. It would be very helpful for 0ls and 1ls if you could list the firms you know of Illinois people going to. God knows our OCS doesn't give out info like that.

I hope that's true. That would certainly be impressive if ~40 2ls had SAs. It would be very helpful for 0ls and 1ls if you could list the firms you know of Illinois people going to. God knows our OCS doesn't give out info like that.

It actually isnt that impressive, it just means pre-end of world crisis numbers. I actually do not think that 20-30% percent placement is "good" by any means. People take a lot of loans to go to law school, while the chances are a bit higher than that (when you take into account people that do not want big law, PI/Gov, clerkship, etc), it is still a big gamble.

Anyhow, there are some threads around there with SA classes. I got this number from looking at the profile picture of everyone, and counting the ones I knew for a fact that got a NLJ250 job. Also, while some of this people will eventually end up at clerkship postgrad, meaning taking the actual number down, there are a few others which I dont know about, so it may be cancelling each other out. Some people also get big law jobs during 3L, but the number is significantly lower.

Some of these firms have multiple people in the same office (Mayer Brown, Cahill, Kirkland, Winston, etc) others have in multiple offices (Kirkland Chicago + NY; Jones Day Chicago + Cleveland). I am sure I am missing a few firms from people that I know got big law since it is easier to remember (I got a job big law job) than which one exactly, and there were a few people with multiple offers which I counted as (got a job) but I dont recall which firm in particular they ended up choosing. But this list should be at least 95% accurate.

Agree. Only problem is that those firms even though they pay market (aka 160k) they are not considered NLJ 250.

While in undergrad I never found this to be the case. I mean only place where I really remember being a mess at times is 6th near the Psych Building/Kams. and 4th just south of green. There are likely other areas that get bad, but the main quad, south quad and engineering quad were all kept in good condition while I was in Champaign.
