Re: IU-Indianapolis Class of 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
Question for you... is your 99k scholarship guaranteed or is there a stipulation per year? I got a $35,000 scholarship/year but it's contingent on being above median. Also, congrats!tolson1 wrote:Woot!!
I was accepted to IU early december.. Received an envelope this morning offering a 33k (99k total) out of state scholarship! The school seems very promising and I will most likely be going next year. I'm sorry if this has already been addressed, but the school recently changed its name? I was also wondering if someone could give some feedback on how the reputation of IU is (in Indianapolis and Indiana), I imagine that Bloomington is somewhat more reputable given how much higher its ranked.
Thank you guys (and gals), and I hope you all can get accepted into your dream school!

nvm it came today lol. Im instate, but I got 13k per year + instate tution with a 3.0 stipulation. Its gonna be tough to beat IU-Indy at this point considering I want to stay in Indiana.

Scholarship offer has been at school since mid December, but I was at home.
17.5k per year (in-state tuition) with 3.0 GPA stipulation.

That's the same scholarship I have- BE CAREFUL GUYS- it is HARD to keep a 3.0.tolson1 wrote:Woot!!

People in Indiana have no idea what rankings are and probably view the two schools as equal (only putting Bloomington a little higher because it is...Bloomington). The lawyers in this state are a mix of both. Obviously I'm biased but I like my school a lot!
Yes the school received a huuuuuge donation and changed it's name. All on the IndyLaw website. Congrats!

My guess is that a 3.0 is about the median, as I think it is at many other schools. Has this scholarship information pretty much sealed the deal for anyone else? I think Im probably going to IU-Indy in the fall but am going to wait untill I hear back on scholarship info from the schools ive alrdy been accepted to as well.

Ditto. Applied to way too many schools, I imagine that another scholly as large as this won't surface.. Would love to go somewhere southpatrickj11288 wrote:My guess is that a 3.0 is about the median, as I think it is at many other schools. Haha we do! We must be in the same group. And I feel like our stats are similar, don't know if I saw that in some post or if I'm just making it up. But best of luck to both of us!neeko wrote:Me.puremorning wrote:Hm. My status still says in review, but the date has changed to today's date. Has this happened to anyone else?

For 1L classes it is supposed to be "between 2.9 and 3.1" so yeah, 3.0. I ended up doing pretty well (about top 25%) but I know a lot of people who are going to lose their scholarships if they get below a 3.0 next semester too.patrickj11288 wrote:My guess is that a 3.0 is about the median, as I think it is at many other schools. Maybe it just means that our applications have split ways and are now housed in two separate decision-making rooms. And that we will still get an acceptance on the same day AND money.neeko wrote:Oh no! Now I feel like my date change does not mean good things!puremorning wrote:Oh boo neeko! I feel like my average stats are pushing my app to the bottom of the pile....this wait is exhausting lol

I am sure that isn't the case! In theory they shouldn't even look at your numbers prior to putting you in the stack for review.thegoodpart wrote:I feel like my average stats are pushing my app to the bottom of the pile....this wait is exhausting lol

They basically don't grant in-state residency to people originally out of state.tolson1 wrote:Michaela wrote:That's the same scholarship I have- BE CAREFUL GUYS- it is HARD to keep a 3.0.tolson1 wrote:Woot!!

Hey I have a question for you, to maintain your scholarship you have to remain an out of state resident, right? Do you live on campus then, or do you have an apartment? I don't understand why they would want you to remain an out of state resident and why they wouldn't just compensate you for the difference (give you less $ when in state to equal the same amount you pay).
