Hi all,
I think I'm leaning towards Loyola Law (LA) now, because the UC's are poor and Davis can't give me much in merit awards.
Loyola has been generous and April 15th looms.
Does anyone have suggestions as to if it's a good idea even though Loyola is #50 or 51, Davis is 30? and Emory is 24?, but I do want to practice in California.
Its so much stress knowing what's best.
Thanks for your input

Emory wouldn't be a good choice if you want to return to Cali.kmason wrote:Hi all,

Take a year off and apply early (retake too)
You should be competitive at USC and UCLA - gain a few lsat points and Berkley becomes an option.

Emory has some portability, but I don't think it has California portability.kmason wrote:Hi all,

This past years SBA President who spoke at ASD is from CA and already has a job lined up back in Los Angeles after he graduates. So it CAN be done, just not as easily as if you start off in a CA school to begin with.

Any ideas as to when waitlisted people will start hearing back?

I sent them an email yesterday telling them that I'm declining their offer of admission. So hopefully one of you waitlisted people gets my spot (and $$)!

I visited a couple of weeks ago and they told us that they expect to start excepting off the wait list this month and they also mentioned that last year they took around 50 people off the wait list... which gives me hope.shroeder wrote:lawgirl821 wrote:Any ideas as to when waitlisted people will start hearing back?

Update Re: Emory c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Dear future lawyers,
I posted this on a new post, but wanted to share the news with all of you who in this thread who helped me with my original decision. Thanks again.
Hi all,
I was blown away when I found out that I just got admitted into UCLA !!! I only found out yesterday, as I'd last checked my emails on Friday morning and then had to leave for a workshop.
Well its finally sunk in that I was admitted !!! - unbelievable - it was definitely a "reach" for me, esp. since I applied late. Also I never was told that I was on any waitlist, etc. Complete silence - even after I sent them a LOCI (just got the std autoresponse) and then later I sent an update - no response to that at all.
Anyway, the point is UCLA gave ZERo $'s but has a high status, AND its in California!!
Also their fees are among the highest, even for residents - only Berkeley is higher.
Since I last posted my status, I called and spoke to both Loyola and Emory for more $s. Loyola said they "should" have more later (after people reject their offers?) and emory had an even vaguer response.
So, I'm completely lost as to what to do because I thought I'd already made my choice and now this comes up.
I want to thank all those who helped with advice on my other post when I was trying to decide between my previous choices - but now UCLA ...
Is it worth going in debt for their JD, esp since I read in the National Jurist that for PI the avg. starting salary difference between even Yale and a school ranked below #50 on US News was only $9k (59k vs 50k). And UCLA is #15.
Anyway, besides my confusion, for everyone who has not heard back, this may mean you could hear some good news soon. So chin up and keep your fingers crossed.
Best of luck to everyone.

Has anyone else heard about getting accepted off the waitlist? Are we notified either way? I got a blocked call this morning... does the admissions office call from a certain number that we should watch out for??
The anticipation is killing me!

Re: Emory c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
By the end of April, they are going to be offering acceptances and rejections to people on the wait list. If you haven't heard from them by the end of April it means you're still being considered if additional seat become avail. Eg. Ppl don't show up to orientation etc...... If the admissions office calls they are going to leave a voicemail. And try to contact you via email. You have 24 hours to respond to them. Emory law #s start with 404.727......kari71686 wrote:Has anyone else heard about getting accepted off the waitlist? Are we notified either way? There is a facebook group for the class of 2015. They only sent out the link after I paid the first deposit, so I guess that's what it takes to get you approved by the group admin.

I did write a LOCI which was about 2 pages long haha and probably better than my personal statement which had been generic. I also visited the School.maxmart2012 wrote:Did you write a LOCI or visit the school?john1990 wrote:In off of the waitlist today via phone call Definitely attending next year.
