Re: Missouri Class of 2015
My goal after school is to work at a DA's office. Is the closest DA's office to Columbia in Jefferson City? Are there part-time jobs available in town so that you can intern and work at the same time over the summers?

Jeff City is a short drive from CoMo . . . quite a few people commute, TBH. So, if you can't find work in Jeff City (although, I don't know why you wouldn't be able to) you can work in CoMo.
As for DA offices the Federal District Offices are in STL and KC, but for each county in MO there are appointed "prosecuting attorneys" and there is one of them in CoMo.

Oh I see. Are there summer internships available with their office?thelawschoolproject wrote:Jeff City is a short drive from CoMo . . . quite a few people commute, TBH. So, if you can't find work in Jeff City (although, I don't know why you wouldn't be able to) you can work in CoMo.

Depends on what county you want. I'm sure there are in Boone County. I'm interning as an 0L for my county prosecutor this summer.

Re: Missouri Class of 2015
I've done that the past 2 summers and have really enjoyed it. I would like to be able to get a similar internship close to where I end up going to school.thelawschoolproject wrote:Depends on what county you want. I'm sure there are in Boone County. Just went and checked out the campus and Columbia this weekend and loved it. Now to wait on the financial aid packet.

Congrats, and I am glad you liked the campus CPM. Financial Aid packets will notcome out until, if I recall correctly, very early February. Mizzou is fast on admissions decisions but trailed the pack in speed of schollys. I think they may have actually been the very last one I received. Maybe Ohio State was a little slower...

Ive been complete since beginning of Sept. Still haven't heard anything. Anyone have thoughts on if I should follow up or just wait it out?

Probably depends on your numbers (feel free to PM me). But I doubt you could do any harm following up with admissions...they really are as nice (nicer, even) as people on here say.

I will be applying after my December LSAT! Pretty excited, Mizzou is a great school. Columbia is a great town too.

Totally unrelated to admissions/Mizzou, but for those current Mizzou students, have you heard anything about the St. Louis market recently? I'm trying to get back there (for both 1L and 2L summers), and I'm not quite sure what the hiring scene looks like these days, or is expected to look like for next summer.

Considering applying. Not sure if I really want to be in Missouri or not, but I think I'd like the school. How portable is the JD to Iowa?

To Iowa might not be impossible, but I'm only judging this opinion on the fact that it is Iowa.Opie wrote:Considering applying. Not sure if I really want to be in Missouri or not, but I think I'd like the school. How portable is the JD to Iowa?
And conveniently ignoring the fact that there is a really good law school there.

Re: Missouri Class of 2015
This I'm not sure of. I know we placed quite a few students in firms and with judges this past summer, but I don't know how representative that is of the city as a whole. I'd think you should at least get a decent look at some jobs. Remind me in a few weeks or so and I'll let you know what I'm hearing.beachbum wrote:Totally unrelated to admissions/Mizzou, but for those current Mizzou students, have you heard anything about the St. Louis market recently? Congrats to you as well! Where else did you apply and is Mizzou one of your top choices? Since I want to stay in Missouri the only school I really have ahead of Mizzou is Wash U.Linus19 wrote:Me too!!! LOL! Iowa is my top choice, but who knows how the money will go. I'd like some backup plans.Ford Prefect wrote:To Iowa might not be impossible, but I'm only judging this opinion on the fact that it is Iowa.Opie wrote:Considering applying. Opie Missouri should be your top choice. It's the only place that has Ford.

The funny thing is, I've been using the name Ford Prefect since 7th grade when I first started chatting in the Milliways Talker (that's what a chat room was called before there were pictures on the internet for you youngins out there.. Do they still have chat rooms? God, I'm old).thelawschoolproject wrote:Opie wrote:

I'm still not sure if I want to be so far away from home. My family will be here in Iowa.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
