Nice! Hope you hear back soon. I just got accepted on Monday.
Do we know if there are any 1Ls on here that can help with some student perspective?

Yeah she is! She has already been super helpful with everything. The interaction I have had with the admissions office is definitely causing me to put Mizzou high up on my list.

SLU, Fordham, Case Western, Loyola-Chicago, DePaul, Marquette, and Notre Dame.
Some of those are reaches. I really need to visit Mizzou though.
Have any of you been to Columbia?

Re: Missouri Class of 2015
I have never been to Columbia. I use to live in Kansas City when I was really young and visit family in the state a lot, but have never been to the city of Columbia. I plan to visit sometime later this semester though.
I'm really excited about getting into Mizzou. I'm also in at South Dakota but think Missouri is a better choice. Do you know when we would hear about scholarship offers from Missouri?

Not sure. I'll take a look around and see what I find. It would be cool if it was soon though.

Re: Missouri Class of 2015
I visited one weekend (I live in STL). The campus is nice, and most of the buildings are new. The inside of the law building, however, needs some updating.
Other than that, there's a Chipotle within walking distance. That's really all I need.

Aside from South Dakota and Missouri, I've also applied to UMKC, Kansas, West Virginia, Iowa, North Dakota, and ED for Minnesota (which I'm sure will not happen, but its a great school so why not try).

Haha nice. I also live in the area so I need to take 2 hours and go check it out.
Do you guys see any problems with getting internships with such a small town surrounding the school?

They have a chipotle, huh. That definitely persuades me a little lol. I use to live in Minnesota but am doing my undergrad in Iowa. Minnesota has tons of Chipotles but none down here. Iowa just has Pancheros. Which isn't nearly as good.

Scholarships will start being submitted around January from the sound of the website.

The Chipotle even has a free burrito day.
Never been inside the law school, but Columbia is a great college town.
I'm going to be applying once the Oct LSAT gets back, so +1 or something.

Nice! Does the town have plenty of things to do, or does it pretty much revolve all around Mizzou?

I've only visited twice, so I just kinda had a feel for the atmosphere of the town+stories from my friends that go there. So I'm probably not the best source for info.

What's the town like? Does it feel isolated? Does Columbia provide everything you need or are there things that the town doesn't have?rachelkatelyn wrote:I lived in Columbia for the past five years up until this August.

Also, do most of the activities surround the campus, or are there other cool things that happen around town?

I don't think the town feels isolated really. You're a short drive from St. Louis or Kansas City if you want to get away for the weekend (not that you'll have much time for that 1L year anyway. Haha.)CPM723 wrote:What's the town like? Does it feel isolated? For the most part, with the exception of a wide variety of shopping options- I found that Columbia offered everything I needed. There are a ton of grocery stores, coffee shops, AWESOME restaurants, etc. The downtown area is fun- lots of bars to choose from- though I will say that sometimes you feel overwhelmed by the amount of MU undergrads and a few of the bars tend to feel more like sorority/frat houses.
The mall leaves something to be desired... But there are some great clothing shops downtown if you're looking for something other than your basic department store.
I won't lie: There were many times when I felt like MU controlled the town, which was frustrating- especially if you're not an MU undergrad (I wasn't), but everyone assumes you are. But, there are other things happening, and if you want to avoid the "undergrad atmosphere"- you can find ways to do it. CoMo has film festivals, jazz festivals, an independent movie theatre, and more.
Any more questions- let me know!

Re: Missouri Class of 2015
Is the downtown small, or is it pretty substantial? I know Columbia isn't a bustling metropolis, but do you feel like you are doing the same thing over and over every weekend, or is there some variety?

Re: Missouri Class of 2015
It's not substantial, but I think there's enough variety that you can do something different on the weekends if you want to. Most people do end up finding the bars with the atmosphere they like and going back to the same places though! This looks great! Though it's a college town, it seems like that it offers a lot of big city amenities. Am I wrong in saying this?
