I'm a lifelong FL resident but I don't know the answer to this. I would 100% recommend phoning FSU and getting this information from them first person. You are guaranteed to talk with a kind and patient person who will provide you with those details. FSU is pretty top notch when it comes to the way the administration treats prospective students.

I know that for some states the requirements for establishing residency have changed quickly enough that a 2L or a 3L could provide you with outdated information, and then you'd be making plans based on incorrect info. I'm not saying that's the case for FL because I'm completely ignorant when it comes to FL residency reqs, but don't risk it, lol.

Hey what were your stats? Did they call you today? Did you go under review yesterday?
--Sorry I keep refreshing the stupid app status...
Yeah, I went under review yesterday I think, and they called me today, my status indicator still says in review. Had a 3.93/162
Just got the call too =) 3.8/161 in case anyone else is waiting

Also just received a call and am in. I've had my heart set on Miami for the past couple months and now this pops up, a much cheaper option but Miami holds a few more positives for me, this is going to be hard!

3.73/158 for anyone still holding out hope.

Yep, comes as a PDF attachment that you e-mail back to them after completing.

Got in with a phone call tonight! Very excited about this one. Barring an incredible offer this is going to be where I will be studying in the fall.

Hey ogresmash - it's actually fairly easy and straightforward to get your residency changed after your 1L year. I know a LOT of people who do it, and they even talk about the steps you need to take during orientation, so it's not like the administration is trying to keep it sneaky. They know that is one reason people choose FSU! Basically you have to have changed your drivers license and a few other things (there's a list somewhere) one full year before the start of 2L classes - so you need to get it all done before the beginning of 1L year, and you should be good to go!

Congrats to all the new admits! I <3 FSU Law and am really happy with my choice to go here.

Has anyone heard back about scholarships who turned their application in for the March 1st deadline?

I went to it, and from what I saw there was one guy who brought his mom and another guy who brought his girlfriend or wife or something.

As someone who's doing this, the biggest thing is to pre-register for the Florida Bar.

Well, today was the day we were supposed to hear about scholarships if we sent our apps in by the first and I also have yet to hear anything. I'll wait until their business hours are over to shoot them an e-mail asking if this means we weren't selected to receive a merit-based award.

I hope that's not the case...I like everything about FSU, but it's actually cheaper for me to attend W & L right now.

Still nothing in my email about a scholarship - nothing good or bad. Wonder if they're still gonna be sending emails out this evening.

How long does it usually take to go from "Complete" to "Under Review" ?

OK I was tired of waiting for a an app for a scholarship offer so I wrote an appeal and listed off my other offers mostly 50% tuition at solid tier 2 schools, (which FSU is now one  ) and 90% to a tier three. I got an email back from Jennifer Kessinger saying that I could scan my letters of offer in and she would forward them to the scholarship committee.

Looks like if you have not heard anything yet it might be time to start pressing.

BTW my stats are not amazing 164 and 3.2 and URM and FL resident but also not sticker so I am trying to get something.

I drove by the school this weekend on my way through Tallahassee. It's not too shabby looking, pretty big building. How is the parking situation at the law school? Is there a separate lot or garage for its students?

Spoke with the people responsible for merit scholarships. They are apparently very backed up, and it seems that not everyone who received a scholarship application will be receiving an award. I forwarded my offer from UF; we'll see what happens. I'd been hoping FSU would beat or at least match UF, but now I'm not so confident.

the law school itself inside is pretty nice, looks fairly renovated. the parking situation at FSU is really bad, but the law school is next to the Civic center and the civic center is right across from a parking garage.

1Ls typically have 8AMs, so parking isn't really an issue your first year (at least, it hasn't been for me). You will be able to park right in the main lot at the law school.

But, as stated before, there are other options: a lot across the street, a parking garage, and the civic center (which comes at a price for the semester).

I'm not holding out a lot of hope, but I went ahead and sent in my application a couple of weeks ago.

I'm a fairly extreme splitter (2.7/169 (damn that one point)), so who knows.

I'm guessing I'll probably end up sitting out until after they start getting some seat deposits in and see if they need to raise their LSAT.

A close friend of mine is a 2.7/167; he just took the LSAT this February.

He's sitting it out a year. I recommend the same to you; your LSAT is really high. You're applying really late, and especially for a splitter. You can get into some great schools (and even receive money at some) if you sit out a cycle. Good luck.
