Perhaps. I would think they note it in the application though. I don't particularly care lol.ThreeRivers wrote:I'd imagine they just go through pile, move that one immediately from ED to RD / then they're judged regularlyfltanglab wrote:So...I think that ED can hurt because it shows a lack of judgment on your part if you choose to ED when you have a small chance at RD, but it has nothing to do with how the process itself works. Or ED can show a definite commitment to attend.

Re: GW c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Wow, a lot of herpderp ITT. Here's how ED works at all schools, scholarship or not:
When you apply ED, schools have four options: accept, waitlist, deny or hold. If you are a competitive candidate for a school, but not enough for the full scholarship at a school like GW or Northwestern, you will get held and then considered with the RD applicants. If you are a borderline candidate, they may waitlist you outright, but I think most get held, accepted or denied.
Applying will only help your chances of admission, even at a school like GW when you aren't competitive for the full scholarship. Applying ED still demonstrates a commitment to the school and will still be a small boost if you get held to regular decision. At schools like GW, you don't have the scholarship disadvantage either, because you either receive their highest award or you are released from the binding ED contract.

Or they could see your ED as a sign you want a full ride and would go to another school that provided you one.

Probably waitlist territory, but the decrease in apps this year might swing it in your favor. Good luck!ThreeRivers wrote:Just curious on how people think I'll do with a 167 / 3.44 (GW is probably my top choice so fingers crossed)....
edit: LSN appears to slightly favor me...

There's not an eyeroll big enough for this comment. Please stop spreading misinformation. If you have even a shred of evidence to back up your statements, I'd love to hear it.HyeMart wrote:Or they could see your ED as a sign you want a full ride and would go to another school that provided you one.

Does anyone know if your status says anywhere (or is supposed to say) that you are an ED applicant? I know my application is complete and I selected ED, but I don't have any confirmation of whether or not they got my agreement.

I called - they don't indicate if you applied early decision or regular decision on the status checker, just if your application is complete.

Did GW actually email you guys a link to their status checker, or when you say "status checker" are you refering to the LSAC status checker? I never received a status checker from GW directly, only a confirmation email from LSAC saying that my app had been sent.
I was worried that they hadn't received my ED form, because I never received an email from GW directly, but I spoke to them on the phone, and they said that they already had the form. I asked if they had sent an email, and they said yes, but I never received anything from them--only LSAC.

I got a status checker from them. It is just sitting at Application Received still, but I have it.stingray wrote:Did GW actually email you guys a link to their status checker, or when you say "status checker" are you refering to the LSAC status checker? Hmmmm...Well, I guess that I can do without a status checker. Strange. They said they sent it--even told me which email they sent it to--but nothing in my inbox or spam folder. I'm not going to press the issue, because I know they are busy, and I don't guess I really need the status checker. Does anyone know how GW lets applicants know if they got in? Please don't say via status checker.neeko wrote:I got a status checker from them. Has anyone received merit-based fee waivers from GW? I am ready to apply now, but I was wondering if they send out merit-based ones...

Re: GW c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
So I applied on 10/25 and today this pops up on the top of my status checker screen:
CONGRATULATIONS! You have been admitted to the LL.M. degree program at The George Washington University Law School for the 2012-2013 academic year! Further details will be sent to you via mail and e-mail. We look forward to meeting you and to welcoming you to our law school community.
What does that mean?? I clearly applied for the JD program. Do you think I was accepted and this is a mistake? It wasn't there yesterday when I checked. So confused.

lolno It's not the LLM program is JD Lite. It's likely just some sort of glitch. Either you got in and it's displaying the wrong message or the system is sending LLM acceptance to the wrong people. When did you submit?cmd72215 wrote:I got the same update....does that mean rejected from JD?

I just called the admissions office and they said the LLM message should have never been sent out. She said they are sharing a server with the LLM program and that they would fix the mistake in the morning. Wow, I was very panicked that that was their way of softly rejecting you from the JD program.

Thank you for the update! I called, but I think it was too late in the day and it went straight to voicemail. I'm kind of sad that doesn't mean we got in for the JD program, but at least we're still in the running.cmd72215 wrote:I just called the admissions office and they said the LLM message should have never been sent out. Would someone mind posting the link for the status checker? The link in my email doesn't work and I can't find it on the website.
Thanks!
