There is a partial refund deadline of June 30 for people that have already submitted the $900 deposit. Hopefully there will be some movement before the DL since some people may decide to go elsewhere and want some of their money back!

Fyi: If you are willing to pay out of pocket (sticker price) go ahead. I was accepted and called financial aid they said need based grants are only for full-time students and that I can take loans. I withdrew even though AU was my top choice; aint got that kindda money.

Got put on the waitlist back in March, haven't heard anything from them yet. I heard a rumor that for a lot of law schools if you don't get accepted EVERYONE goes on the wait-list? Is this true?

Seems like theres been a lull in WL action the past couple weeks. There was a bit of action after the seat deposit deadline for FT and then PT a few weeks later but since then the thread and LSN has been pretty quiet. Starting to get very discouraged

Does anyone know why they would have extended the deadline - they are still accepting! Isn't that strange? Curious....

To any on here who are accepted into PT off the waitlist and want to discuss the pros and cons I welcome you to contact me via PM. I applied specifically to PT and was accepted back in December. I fully intend to get my JD through the 4 year PT program over the 3 year FT program. I have done a lot of research on PT programs and found AU to be a great fit for me. I would be happy to share my thoughts and discuss your situation if it helps.

Well accepting people off of the waitlist happens often until early/mid-June I think for many schools and then into the summer. But I wouldn't think that too much regular acceptances are still going on; I'm frankly not sure

Full-Time; I got an e-mail then phone-call both within 2 hours and sent in my deposit right after. I'll PM you my numbers.

Yeah that is sort of an oddly large window for Applications. According to LSAC the deadline was May 17th; pretty far from the typical March 30th/April 15th deadline area. I mean I guess it sort of explains why they get 9000+ apps; they accept them from Sept. to May

Anyone know why they accept apps well into May?

To everyone who was accepted off the waitlist:

Please take some time to seriously consider whether attending this school at full price is a smart decision. The Cost of Attendance (CoA) for the Washington College of Law is a staggering $70,204 for the full-time program and $55,832 for the part-time program, per year. (http://www.wcl.american.edu/finaid/cost.cfm).

This is the cost to attend a school that is eclipsed by two other powerhouses in the very same city, Georgetown and George Washington and another Top-14 school nearby (UVA). In addition, American shares its market with peer schools such as the University of Maryland and George Mason, both of which are significantly cheaper than American.

Upon graduating that JD degree you paid $200,000 for (and thats a conservative estimate) will place you in a DC market flooded with recent graduates from much more competitive schools in one of the worst job markets the legal "industry" has seen in years.

When I first decided I wanted to go to law school, American was my first choice. I always liked the school and I love the city. However, there is no way this school is worth attending without any scholarship. I know I'm going to sound like the typical TLS broken-record, but if this is the best school you can get into, please consider taking a year off to prepare for and re-take the LSAT. If you can push 163+ you're in at American with money, AND also have likely to get money from better schools with better job prospects. TLS is full of materials and guides on how to ace the LSAT. I believe anyone who prepares properly can break 160 without much trouble. Also, applications to law schools have been going down steadily and there is no reason to suggest this trend won't continue next year so you will be competing against a less-accomplished applicant pool.

I hope I haven't offended anyone ITT. Congrats on making into American. I only want to make you consider if attending at full-price is really something you want to burden yourself with. $200,000+ in debt is no small thing to shake off, especially with American's bleak job prospects.

This is not the forum for your statement. This is for Acceptances, Waitlists, and Denials.
We've heard enough about the bad market, the other schools in DC, and the cost of attendance. You're not saying anything new here.
