does anyone know if waitlisters ever get merit scholarships? it would make sense for the YPers.
i wonder if they get notice of that within that 24 hour period.

I'm fully employed, have an MPH in Health Policy and Law from GW, a URM, and super interested in AU law. My stats are around the median for gpa, and slightly below for LSAT.

Still waiting as well. Because it has been almost three months, I decided to go ahead and send an e-mail today, updating them on my grades, experience and then closed by letting them know that they are my top choice and I'll surely go if accepted. Since my LSATs are below average even for PT and they have emerged as my true front-runner, I figured it couldn't hurt.

AU is very smart...knowing that you more than likely will not show up...Congrats on the UMICH admission

Waitlisted with a 3.6/166 what is up with American? Would have seriously considered going with some real $$.

The waitlist policy is pretty intense for having to put a $900 deposit down within a 24 hour period. That's breaking my need-based fee waiver receiving heart. Looks like their doing quite a bit of WL this year probably for YP.

Seriously could still use some thoughts on this for those of us with less pretty LSAT scores.

I noticed there are a lot of 157 LSAT scores on LSN. I hope that's not a general base cutoff. I am just a couple points lower than that for my LSAT. Above 75% G.P.A. I know I've seen a few people with lower scores...and I'd take part or full time.

Do you think there is much difference in applying with a score just a few points lower if your G.P.A. is solid?

Also, for people getting waitlisted, how are you getting notified?

Waitlisted via e-mail about 20 minutes ago. I think I am going to withdraw and just go to Tulane...

I was notified by email.

I'll probably be withdrawing--their WL deposit policy is RIDICULOUS.

wahhh. it looks like they're not making too many more admits. Seems a lot of WL and denied.

wait WHAT?! that's absolutely ridiculous. i've never heard of a school requiring you to put down a deposit just to remain on the waitlist. i'll be withdrawing my acceptance in the near future though so i hope one of you gets my spot!

Yep. Calls you out on whether you're really committed in a pretty intense way: http://www.wcl.american.edu/admiss/waitlist/

oh. you need to read it more closely. you don't need to submit $900 to remain on the waiting list you only have to put that down if you get accepted off the waiting list. that's still a pretty fast turnaround but not as bad as i understood it to be. if you just want to stay on the waiting list it says you just need to submit a form within 2 weeks

Sorry, I meant to clarify that that is what I meant in the last post. Yes, it's for if you get accepted, not just to be on the waitlist, but as you said, it's still pretty quick to pay $900.

Seriously though, can a girl get some help on a question

155ish LSAT/3.7ish G.P.A. here. Do you think I've still got a chance considering that 157 seems to be a pretty common cut off in Law School Numbers? I have a ton of strong softs.

WL'ed and withdrawn. 3.4 and 161. I am somewhat surprised by their decision, but as far as I see it, I have gotten into another program that I would be more happy with anyway. Best of luck to the rest of you!

I have basically the same numbers and I was admitted a couple weeks ago. I applied around 1/4. When did you apply? I really think my softs/PS/LORs played a big part, because considering my LSAT, my acceptance was a pretty fast turnaround (I think). My resume and PS scream PI; American is big on public interest/international stuff and I have a lot of what I think they were looking for. So yes, I think you definitely still do have a chance! Best of luck to you!
