If you are asking if he/she went to ND, the answer is almost definitely no. If they had attended ND, they would have said they went to a T20 (check my profile ). No one is going to lump themselves into a less elite group unless absolutely necessary.

I wasn't necessarily asking that (for anonymity), but a highly regarded private school (especially Catholic school) might give an applicant a leg up on admissions. It might, it might not, and the last thing I want to do is under value crabcakes' academic achievements. Just curious. :)

haha, well i did not go to notre dame for undergrad. i am catholic, though and did mark that where the application asked for it. undergrad is a large private west coast school, also known for its football...soooo, figure it out haha. nice handwritten note on my acceptance letter to from the dean referencing a specific part of my resume.

looking at lsn from last year, it looks like they do give out some good scholarships.

Cool, thank you very much (and congrats)!
Btw, our respective football teams play each other this weekend. Prepare to be crushed. :D

Wow that was super quick. Submitted my app on Nov 9 and my status checker is already saying decision made. Too bad I have to wait for it to come in the mail. I really just applied because of the fee waiver and 15 day decision, but reading this thread has me worried that my first decision is going to be a wait-list even with numbers above both 75 percentiles.

Status updated to "Decision Made" as of 11/14/11.

My application is RD. Have any other RD applicants received acceptances/rejections yet?

Is Notre Dame known for having a quick turn around? I applied on the 6th and went complete on the 7th... but no change since then. I'm at or above both 75ths.

Decision Made as of 11/14! I'm getting anxious to find out what that was though.

Crazy fast turn around, my application was received/complete on 11/10.

For undergrad we are 83% (81 maybe, something really high anyways) Catholic. I would say that it is highly unlikely that such a high concentration of a relatively small minority (22%) is entirely due to self selection amongst the applicant pool. Unlike most Catholic schools, we don't hide our Catholic identity. We openly acknowledge that we prefer a majority of our faculty to identify with the Catholic faith and also openly embrace the moral stances of the Catholic church (for example, the University refuses to recognize and fund the Gay Straight Alliance on Campus and also holds Pro Life events quite regularly). So interpret that information how you will. I would say it is definitely not a deal breaker or deal maker, but is certainly a factor that they look at.

This is a bit of an aside, but I want to stress that the student body is not overly preachy nor moralistic. I'd say the primary religion at ND is football, then Catholicism. I for one, while technically Catholic, am entirely unreligious. I don't even go to Church on Easter or Christmas. As an unreligious person, the Catholicism on campus is not overwhelming or inhibitory. I think it is certainly more present on campus for those who want to pursue it, and for those who don't care about it doesn't affect life all too much. Definitely, as I inferred above, the administration is probably way more Catholic (in terms of strength of conviction, not percentages) than the student body.

I was a bit scatter brained here, but hopefully this is at least mildly helpful.

I only even sent in my application on 11/8 and they sent out my decision 11/14. That's really quick, wondering if that's good or bad for me (169/3.94)

With those numbers, probably good. I looked at LSN last cycle and it seemed like ND took at least a month for most responses.. I wonder why some people are hearing so fast this cycle. I'm kind of worried...

They included a clause in a handful of fee waivers that guaranteed a response within 15 business days.

Just checked LSN, no one with your stats has ever been anything but accepted to Notre Dame, and I didn't take the time to check but I'm sure there was also significant money involved.

Yeah I'm optimistic bc of the history, but this 15 day thing probably comes with increased yield protection. Lots of seemingly qualified candidates have been getting waitlisted.

Once again though, NO ONE has EVER been rejected with your numbers. Unless you have serious, serious issues on your application you are comfortably in with money. Keep me informed though. I'll probably end with similar numbers and ND is my UG, so I'll probably be applying here.

No I was really just musing on how the committee will handle the influx of applications coming from that 15 day clause.

I'll keep you posted, hopefully get the mail today.

Anyone else see the painfully-balding guy on the last page of the viewbook? It was really quite cringe-worthy. Someone needs to put a firm hand on his shoulder and say "Just shave it bro".

I wonder if it's the guy from the forums. I don't remember the viewbook.
