Same thing. I have friends at the law school. It's not a commuter school.

In terms of rent:

I am paying $300/month to live in Cleveland Heights. I paid $435/month for a 2 bedroom in Little Italy. You can find places from between $300-$600 a month. It's a really low COL. They are building new lofts and apartments on Euclid and Coltman (or some street off of Mayfield) which are probably going to be expensive.

There are a bunch of foreclosure's around Wade Park/behind the football stadium. Somewhat dicey area, but it's really cheap to buy back there. The Heights is pricier. It's really cheap to rent houses in the area. Little Italy is also pretty reasonable.
What part of CH is your place in? I'm going to be up there in a few weeks to see my family for Christmas and I really want to pay $300 a month.

South Overlook. I live in a house though, it's $1,500/month. It's a good 35 minute walk from the law school. Little Italy off of Mayfield is really cheap. I saw singles for less than $450. If you're willing to drive, it gets cheaper. Check out Coventry, they have great value apartments. Craigslist is your best bet, but the listings increase substantially in the spring.

I live up there too! I'm more in the Cedar-Fairmount area. I used to live in Coventry and paid $400/month, which included parking, but had a crazy roommate and had to go. Now I'm paying $670 for my own place (I used to live in NYC, and I can't get over how huge my apt here is) and parking is $40/month extra but it's in a covered garage. If you're young Coventry is fun, but it's loud and growing sketchier over time. I looked at an apartment on Hessler that was much less expensive and right by campus, but it didn't allow pets.

Thanks guys! I'm going to try to look a little bit when I'm up there. I have a dog so I definitely need pet friendly places. I don't really mind driving. I'd rather not but will if I must.

If you commute, you can park for free on streets like Random and E125. Parking is rarely enforced on the streets in Little Italy. I have two friends who commute and don't have parking passes. Ford is another option. Those places are pretty big. There are dirt cheap apartments above the stores on Euclid/Ford, but I hear they are pretty awful. The place I lived in on Murray Hill allowed pets. There is very little green space though. You have to drive to real parks.

on the application, i indicated i wanted to participate in the interview, but i still have not heard back from them. I'm going to have surgery in a month, and i would really prefer to get it done beforehand. I would contact them, but my application has not even gone "complete" yet.

Most of the buildings in my neighborhood have courtyards and it's very neighborhoody so my dog loves it. There are also lots of other dogs in the neighborhood, so I know mine isn't the only building that allows them. At the end of my street is a Case-run bus, but I've never taken it and am not sure how reliable they are. I do have a lot of classmates that rely on public transportation, which Case subsidizes, so it's pretty economical. My parking garage is $990/year, so yeah...

Has anyone heard back any info about the alumni interview yet?

Nope. I'm guessing since it's a new program they're kind of stumbling through it at the moment. I sent them an email opting in, interested to see who they pair me up with, and when.

It sure would be nice if Case communicated a little better with applicants. They send an email about a program and then are very, very slow to follow up with details leaving us all wondering. It sure is a stark contrast to my experience thus far with Florida State. Those admissions people deserve a gold medal.

I'm under committee review as of yesterday. I opted into the alumini interview program but never heard back. I wouldn't be suprised if they couldn't find anyone to pair me up with becuase of the region of the country I live in.

Yea, I could post my very similar story about alumni interview program, but basically I think to sum it up is that this is brand new / they tried to rush and implement it and it is a mess.

Hopefully they're just scrapping it idk

When did you go complete? I've been complete since 9/28 and not in review.

Called today because LSAC did something screwy and sent my report from last year and I was freaking out. While I was on the phone I asked about the alumni interview program. They said currently that they were working with ED people at the moment. Even though I emailed them opting in she said that I had not opted in and asked if I would like to, then took my info again. She didn't give me a specific time frame for someone to contact me, but I guess they're still going forward with it.

I was hoping to get an interview in Cleveland before I graduate too. I didn't hear anything from them yet, but I just sent my application in the day before Thanksgiving. I really like the law Professor's I have met, they are really nice and dedicated to teaching, learning, and discussions. In general, I really like the Professor's at Case. I haven't had a bad Professor yet.

Grad school's a whole different ballgame...some of my professors are amazing and have a real devotion for the field, but others are good practitioners but horrible teachers.

I am working with two of the law Professor's right now on a forum, and they're great. Ancedotal I'm sure, but they both are great to work with, agreeable to meetings, and down to earth. Hopefully that's an indication of the faculty. With undergrad, all of my Professor's are also the graduate Professor's. I'm not sure if that's the same in all majors, but even the Professor's I have disagreed with always make themselves available, say hi to me, start conversations when we run into eachother on campus. They have all helped me whenever they can, and it's just been a great experience. I can't say the same for the students though...

Three of my friends are in grad school, a few at the law school. Two are at Mandel, and are having positive experiences.

Good god, is anyone getting solicited from this school everyday? I literally have a Case Western solicitation email everyday, if not two times a day.

I did at first a few months ago, then opted out a few weeks ago. I didn't want my app held out of review waiting to schedule it.

In Committee Review as of yesterday. :D
I opted into the Alumni Interview Program, never opted out but never was contacted by an Alumni either, so I am happy that the interview did not hold up my application.
