Looks like they've got 3L calling people to tell them about their full-ride scholly/student life. Damn near gave me a heart attack when I realized it was someone from a law school/heartbreak when I realized it wasn't a school I had applied to.

Yup. The person who called me is a 3L who also happened to be from my home state (i'm from the south so it was a surprise). I was having a panic attack inside because I had read that people had been getting phone calls about acceptance/scholarship offers but then when she asked me if I had applied yet my heart sank a little.

Thanks. Rent sounds pretty affordable. I pay $300 in a city for a 5 bedroom house, plus $25/month for parking. How is the music scene? I have always lived near a major city, and all the bands I've wanted to see play with 2 hours of either city I've lived in. Are there good venues? What about museums? I've never been to Michigan, so I'm completely ignorant of the state and whatnot.

While the music scene, again, isnt anything special, its not like there is nothing to do. A lot of the local bars have local bands play every weekend (EL and Lansing), every once in a while they will actually be pretty decent. The Breslin Center, where the basketball teams play, hosts concerts/comedians/other events every once in awhile (everything from Dave Matthews to Dave Chappelle to Toby Keith to the Harlem Globetrotters). If you are into Broadway/Jazz/Classical/Dance, the Wharton Center on MSU campus also has things every week. There are more popular venues about 1 1/2 hours away towards Detroit like DTE (probably even closer that I dont know about). And actually, there is a giant strange-looking building that they are currently building on campus that I believe is going to be an art museum.

EDIT: If you are into the electronic/dubstep stuff or whatever its called, I know of someone who goes to these types of things at least once a month in places like Grand Rapids, Detroit, or Chicago, which is only a 4 hour drive away)

I would think that access to Chicago, Detroit, and even Toronto would make for some awesome weekends.

how long do the apps normally sit in the ''waiting on hard copy'' state?

Mine's been waiting since 11/17. I'm convinced the LSAC uses the Pony Express to deliver hard copies.

Honestly I think it's MSU taking forever to process them. I applied to schools farther from PA than MSU and it was done MUCH sooner. Like a week sooner.

Well, the pony express rider made it. My tattered, mud-covered, barely legible app has finally arrived from the LSAC. I'm complete.

It will probably change in a day or two. That's what happened to me after I first got the acceptance phone call.

They told me the scholarship info on the phone, and then also posted it on the status checker.

I got the email requesting a why MSU statement? Did anyone else get one? And if so how long did it take you to get a response. I sent it in on the 23rd and didn't go complete until the 29th. Also if anyone got in after that letter how much did you guys get in scholly?

Yes, received the statement. They contacted me saying my application had been reviewed, I was a strong candidate, and the committee requested a Why MSU statement.

Are those of you getting requests for a Why MSU strong candidates? By that I mean are they deciding whether to YP you?

I got the Why MSU email. Is it a region thing? I live in KY. I have similar numbers (3.1, 163) to some that were admitted by phone call.
