I hope I can get something similar, but I kind of doubt it. Also, there is no under review status for Tulane, is there?

lol. you realize between the three of us we're pretty much at the same index? you definitely have a chance at the 30k, and if I get admitted I'd say that I would too.

above poster is 165/3.8, I'm 166/3.7, and you are 167/3.5

Does anyone know how willing Tulane is to negotiate on scholarships. Obviously, this will depend on numbers and such, but has anyone had any experience or heard anything about this?

I hope I can get that. Tulane might be my top choice overall, not factoring in money considerations. The more money I can get from Tulane, the better. However, I see a 167/3.6 on LSN only get 25k a year, which is discouraging.

I just noticed my status checker updated on the 20th. Still says complete but I went complete for the first time on the 10th. Does anyone know what this means? Also did their ststus check always have a section for fees with the first and second deposit? I didn't get an email on the 20th :(

Same thing happened to me. Not sure what it means though.

How safe is Tulane/New Orleans??? I was looking at the Esplanade Apartments in City Park and they seemed really nice.

Highest per capita murder rate in 2010, I think.

And it's actually becoming a real problem from what I'm reading. Especially for female students.

I'm not down there, though. I have no first hand experience with the city either. It seems bad, but that might not be the whole story. I would certainly not call it a safe city, however.

I've stayed at the Esplanade Apartments for 3 years. It's amazing and pretty much worth the 4 figure monthly rent (one bedroom).

New Orleans is, for any given non-drug user/dealer, as safe as any other major city as most of the murders and more significant crimes are related to drug dealing. Of course there are crimes other than those that affect affect regular citizens on a more frequent basis, but they don't really occur at a higher rate than they would in similarly sized cities with similar demographics.

Also, I've never been robbed or anything along those lines, and I don't know anyone who has.

I'm sorry, but making kids wait so many months is ridiculous.

Look. Do they owe you an admit? No. Do they owe us reasonable time? Not even that.

But it certainly doesn't ingratiate the name of Tulane into anyone's heart when you see people that applied after you getting scholarship and admission before you. This isnt entitlement, it's just collegiality to be timely.

I only applied to Tulane because they gave me a fee waiver and they offer what I'm looking for. Got all excited because living in New Orleans would be awesome.

Have since found out that law schools have their ulterior motives for getting as many applicants as possible

been stuck since 12/16 so now I pretty much feel used. Tulane, welcome to the DING BAR!!!

Same, I applied 1/6 though and I've been complete since then. Zero movement. I doubt I'll get in with my numbers, but the fee waiver made it worthwhile. Funny part is that my current first choice, Loyola, was the first school to get back to me, took less than two weeks after I submitted. Ugh. Some places just take awhile.

You realize that the reason people who applied after you are getting acceptances and scholarship information before you hear anything is because they are stronger candidates right?

I hope you didnt apply to any safety schools...
I especially hope you didn't write any essays that said "You'd love to go to the school", when maybe you meant, "it's a good option if everything else doesn't work out"

Tulane is a bit of a wild card for me. My original plan was to go to schools out west because i want to live there, and I want to work with environmental law. Because Tulane wasn't out west, I didn't look much into their program. In the email containing the fee waiver, I was educated more about their strengths. Tulane would be a great fit because I'm also a recording musician.

But honestly I don't think I'm getting in with my numbers. If I try again next cycle after a retake Tulane will definitely be on the radar again

Gail, it's really odd that they're taking so long with you. I re-read some of your posts and it seems like you had a pretty charged/forward PS and some (relatively minor - they're just a few traffic violations right?) C&F issues. I'm pretty positive the PS is what's screwing you. At 3.6/166, you should be an auto admit at Tulane, with substantial money. I think there's still time for you to get into a really good school. If schools waitlist you, or even reject you, you can try to call or visit them and talk about your essay and explain your thinking. Write a succinct, persuasive LOCI to the WL schools, and you'll be fine.

I thought the same. Until I was accepted at a better school with $$$$

Fair. I was more motivated by the others still waiting on movement at December, though. Would you agree that it can be a little frustrating for them?

Hang in there, all.

I applied mid December and heard early January. Friends of mine at Tulane said the acceptance cycle is wildly variable, so I wouldn't read too much into anything - though I know how much it sucks to wait for an answer. Keep optimistic.

Also - I received an email acceptance which mentioned that scholarship info would be coming soon in the mail. I simply called the admissions office and the told me over the phone, same day. About a week later I received the full admissions tote-bag thing.

Best of luck.
