Bartleby, I'm just curious, why do you not like 230 W. Alabama. I pulled up their website and their apartments look really nice.

It is a shit storm, my friend. $2/sq. ft. Everything is concrete so noise echos like crazy. If you get stuck with a loud neighbor above you, or next to you, you'll hear every noise they make. Pet on your floor? E'ryone will hear it bark. If you get trapped into the "cheaper" apartments that face the highway, be prepared for noise all day. The air conditioning system has some central thing (I don't know what the term) but if my neighbor upstairs smokes, I can smell it. If she/he cooks, I can sometimes smell it.

I just fucking hate that place.

I have read all 37 pages of this thread at one point or another but to me personally this is by far the highlight of it  I lived in a place of similar construction in Austin for 8 months and everything he says is true.

Hi!!

My name is Crystal. Me and my roommate, are looking for a third FEMALE roommate for 3bed/3.5 bath townhome that is extremely close to both TSU an UH law schools. We are currently both in doctorate programs and are laid back and easy going. If you are interested please feel free to message me. The rent would be very reasonable, especially compared to single bedroom apartments that average about $800 or more and the shared amenities much more plush with upgraded appliance. Also non-smokers please and no pets (per landlord regulations). Thanks in advance for all inquiries!

Just FYI, I was checking the last year's admissions thread, and it looks like some wait-listers got accepted at the end of June. While this admissions cycle has been a little behind 2010-2011, I'd start checking status checkers in the next few weeks. Good luck y'all!

I bet they are waiting for the June LSAT score to come out, which is scheduled for release on July 6th. After that they will start to offer spots to the people with the highest scores on the waitlist and June LSAT applicants. Once the full time slots are full, if they still have full time applicants with higher scores than part time applicants, the full time applicants will be offered spots in the part time program. So in short, I would not expect any movement until the week after next.

Just wanted to let yall know that I did indeed puke out my butthole. It was taxing to say the least. Now if UH doesn't let me in the only gambit I have left is to snot rocket poo out my nostril. Probably my right nostril cuz it's more powerful. Ya, that'll show em.

On a more serious note, I'm starting to wonder how these admissions people sleep at night. After all, a lot of them went through the same shit as they're JDs themselves. To sell yourself to the highest bidder by letting those in with the highest scores - not the best pedigree, credentials, or experience - must be far worse than selling your soul to biglaw.

I don't know why they can't just be open about how their process works. Hell, maybe they do just randomly pick files and admit people willy nilly without ranking them. I would imagine then that the last file to be reviewed would either be an auto in or auto reject depending on space. Logic, order, visibility, and structure have no place in this system, the law school admissions process is a closely guarded secret. Here are some other gems from their blog. Thanks for the non-answers UH Admissions, very helpful.

How many people are on the full-time waitlist?

Unfortunately, this information is confidential and cannot be disclosed.

In years past, what is the percentage of candidates who received offers from the full-time waitlist?

Unfortunately, this has varied greatly over the years, so I cannot give you an exact answer. Some years we have made few, if any offers. Other years, there have been quite a few waitlist applicants who received offers.
Compared to other law schools, is the full-time waitlist at UHLC longer or shorter?

Unfortunately, we do not have access to the waitlist statistics at other law schools–so we don’t have a clue how our list matches up with others. Sorry.

Pedigree should not have anything to do with admission.

Anyone know what median is at UH. My scholarship has a 2.9 GPA stipulation; I'm wondering if that is reasonable.

Median is 3.0 According to this past year's class standing, 2.9 would be top 60%.

Has anyone out there spoken with the admissions office recently?
