My status was updated to "in review" as of last Friday (4/6). I had some issues with the admissions office a while back - my e-mail address was typed wrong in their system, which caused me to not receive any information about my status or with regard to the Residency Questionnaire on time, thus putting me in an "out-of-state" status. All has since been resolved.

For what it is worth, I am only applying to UH and STCL since I have no desire to leave Houston.

Congrats to all of you that have been accepted, and good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

Of course, where I was a resident over two decades ago was not exactly important to my current residency anyway, so I'm not clear on why they were hung up on it.

As for not wanting to leave Houston, I tried taking that stand twice in Austin back in the '90s; I suspect you'll have better luck from Houston.

I had Residency Q issues as well because of that issue my application wasnt considered complete until 2/21 :/

We certainly shall see! Leaving Houston is not an option for me, at least in my mind... have a house, boyfriend is from here and currently in law school, my family is down the road, and my legal connections/network are all within the city and further north in Fort Worth. Uprooting myself seems silly because of the reasons mentioned, along with my strong desire to practice here.

It was a bit concerning when I called a while back to get an update since I had literally heard nothing (no info regarding receiving my application or information to log-in to the status checker) and asked them to read my e-mail address to me, in which I realized it had been mis-typed. Confused, I asked as to why they do not follow-up via phone and/or alternate e-mail address if the first one does not work... I was told that it is the applicant's duty to make sure the information is correct. Guess a red flag should have been raised for me when I never received a confirmation from them (silly me). Regardless, I sure am glad that I called!

I am assuming the Residency Q only deals with establishing in-state/out-of-state tuition for applicants. Is anyone aware of numbers that show how many non-resident students matriculate to UH? (I am a resident, Texas born and raised, but I am just curious!)

No, I have not. File complete there on 1/11/12, and still not "in review", which doesn't mean much. It was a bit encouraging to see that UH actually changed my status. STCL seems to be moving at a snail's pace, and I am not quite sure as to why.

They extended their deadline, but that doesn't seem like it should affect early complete files. I applied at the new deadline at Mrs. BVest's urging, but withdrew two weeks later after I had a couple admits in hand.

I see! Yeah, I agree with you. I wonder what the purpose of extending the deadline is for? They did that for the Spring 2012 starts this past fall as well.

I expected an answer by now and the fact that the first seat deposit for STCL is due Monday puts a damper in things...

If you UH is your top choice I would pay the STCL deposit just to make sure you have a school to go to. When UH accepts you just tell STCL your going to school down the road- only thing you will lose is your deposit.


Also like mtyler said, ask for an extension- they should give it to you.

So I asked for an extension and they apparently don't give them out. But was told it's ok if I send it in a week late, which is all I was looking for. I have a feeling UH will send me news soon...or at least I hope.

I don' remember being this antsy about college apps...

I had Residency Q issues as well because of that issue my application wasnt considered complete until 2/21 :/

Mine updated 3 times, and I got an answer a weekish to a week after the last one. So maybe you will have an answer soon. *crosses fingers*.

I called in at one point and they told me that every time (probably old information to all of yall) it updated the In review it means that the application passed to a different panel/set of hands. One might have been the admissions, one might have been faculty, etc. I don't know if that means anything to you, but it made me feel a little better that something was happening more that just the date updating.

UH bumped my scholarship from 5000/yr to 10000/yr, so it is possible

Damn. All I had was 21000 to Baylor and didn't get a dime. Starting to worry lol.

I'm currently in round two of negotiations with UH. I really hope they give me more because I really want to go there.

that explains a lot because i have been wondering what the date change means. I am really hoping i get in *fingers crossed* I am guessing we will be hearing from them after the deposit deadline eeek! So anxious and nervous!!!!

Any ideas on how to last minute negotiate? I've already told them all my leverage and have obviously been unsuccessful. At this point I'm kind of desperate lol, but do I come off that way?

ETA: Did anyone thats been negotiating mention Baylor's advantages?

What kind of advantages are you thinking?

Like being able to know your classmates stats?


Seriously though, the biggest advantage I had in re to Baylor was cost and I believe that is why it worked for me first time around.
