What kind of advantages are you thinking?

Like being able to know your classmates stats?

Seriously though, the biggest advantage I had in re to Baylor was cost and I believe that is why it worked for me first time around.

Haaa right. Baylor is still about 10K more than UH for me, but I was thinking mentioning something about their Practice Court and all that BS. Like listing why I want UH, but then saying something like "but Baylor has this & blah blah." I just don't want to be offensive lol.

Gotcha. Idk. Seems like the biggest factor when negotiating is price. UH is cheaper so I don't know why they would give you more to make themselves even more cheaper.

Also, if Baylor outranked UH it might be another story but they are peer schools.

Hopefully a seasoned law student will chime in and help you on this one.

hey y'all, my file has been in review twice...
Undergrad GPA 3.52
Grad GPA 3.91
LSAT ... mere 148...

I applied two years ago and got denied.... this time around I'm seeing faster movement.
gone into review twice might be a good thing?
Ive read some of you went into review three times before getting the good news.
Thanks!

I hope that the In Review updates are a good sign… I wonder if people who got rejected were seeing these updates as well. Well, only time will tell. Good luck everyone!

i have been wondering the same thing, did the people who got denied see multiple date changes in their status update. Although I have heard that 3 in reviews is the lucky number but i dont believe it.

YP= Yield Protection. Meaning that they figured I'd probably go somewhere else even if the accepted me.

It kind of sucks though cause I'm literally an hour and a half down I-10 from UH, my family is all from East TX, and at the start of my cycle it was my second choice behind UT (waitlisted). I did get good money from Boston U and Cardozo so I sent them a LOCI with those offers and told them that if they could give me enough money I would still probably go. They haven't gotten back to me.

Funny story though. I actually sent the LOCI before a I got WL'd. Then I received an email saying that they didn't need one since I was still being considered. The next day I was wait-listed and emailed them a wtf message. They promptly replied I was welcome to send it again since they didn't read it the first time.

I can't believe you did not get in. Our stats are almost identical.

Honestly, it has by far been the biggest shock of my cycle. I was beyond surprised. In fact after the UT waitlist, I was already getting ready to attend UH (looking for housing, talking to students, networking, etc). I have major ties to Houston. Hopefully having those ties and a JD from Boston will be able to get me back in the area.

Seriously, after they reconsider your application with your letter of intent (in which I hope you clearly outlined your ties to Houston), you're bound to be one of the first people offered admission after April 15th (seat deposit due date). If you really want to come here, just wait.

I hope what you guys are saying is true. A good/great scholy at UH would definitely make me reconsider a good/great scholly at BU just for the ties/family.

Don't get carried away there. UH is extremely cheap when it comes to scholarships.

Unless you consider $2,500 or $5,000 a year good/great.

Basically as long at total COA were equal or close then I'd probably have to side with UH.

I withdrew with no scholarship money. I hope someone gets my acceptance, and somehow weasels a scholarship out of it.

I received an e-mail today from admissions stating that "After carefully reviewing my Residency Questionnaire they have confirmed that I am a Texas resident for tuition purposes." Seriously? That was taken care of a while back (due to my previous issues with them having my wrong e-mail address and such). Nonetheless, at least they confirmed something with me that I already know... I guess? Makes me feel like *something* may or may not happen any day now for those of us still waiting. I am beginning to get very anxious with the waiting game and where I will be this fall (if anywhere)!

How strange. I received that email as well, on March 29th, 9 days after they sent me an acceptance letter.

FYI, I'm part time, applied March 7th.

Seems pretty arbitrary to me, like there's one group taking care of admissions and a separate group for residency.

But the email came from someone in the admissions office...

Who knows?

Hmm... that is interesting, and I agree that it does seem pretty arbitrary. It could have simply been a courtesy since I had an issue before with being labeled "out-of-state"... but, like you said, who knows.

By the way, congrats on your acceptance!

Thank you! Hopefully you will get yours very soon! Someone else noted that it seemed the admissions committee met every other Friday, as that's when batches of letters went out. I don't know if that was earlier in the process and its changed since then, but it was a good observation.

So maybe this Friday you'll hear something!

Good to know! Since I have not heard back from either school I have applied to (STCL & UH), I'm trying to treat this process as "no news is good news"... which is sometimes easier said than done.

I appreciate your optimism! :) Keeping my fingers crossed that I will hear something sooner rather than later.

Anyone know what the cost of attendance was for full time students last year? I think they discussed it at Admitted Students Day and I thought it was 44K but I can't remember for sure.
