Thanks for the responses, Phil and American. I'll be visiting in November, so it might be a little chilly. Would slacks a button down and a jacket be too much or acceptable?

Thanks.

Scheduled my on-campus interview today. Really excited for my visit to Vandy and Nashville. Anybody have any tips, advice, etc. about the on-campus interview? Is it any different from the off-campus interview?

Good luck to all of you this cycle!

I went all formal and wore a skirt suit to my interview, but I wouldn't recommend that for a guy 8) Also, mine was off-campus in a swank law office. From personal experience, I wouldn't say you could ever dress too formally for an interview (as long as what you wear is professional). If nothing else, wear a tie.

Jacket's fine. I interviewed in July, so a little warmer then- that's why I went no jacket. Just wear something decently formal that you look good in. In all fairness, someone in a full suit that fits like crap looks much worse than slacks and a button down w/o a tie if it fits well.

Just applied last night, good luck everyone!

Also, Vandy will be coming to my college to do formal interviews in early November, excited/nervous!

For reference:
Submitted 10/2/11.
Off-campus interview 10/5/11.
Complete 10/11/11.

The turnaround between the submission of my application (which was on a Sunday) and putting me in touch with an alumna (I heard from her on 10/3/11) was really impressive.

I'm becoming increasingly worried about the possibility of getting YPed at Vandy. I've been focusing squarely on law school for months, and since I'm so delighted that the application process is almost over, I'm reluctant to commit to an interview or write a new essay. I live only 2 hours away from Vandy, which is one of the reasons I'm seriously considering it; not sure if the adcomms would notice my geographical proximity, or if it would affect their decision. Any thoughts on the likelihood of my getting YPed without an interview, and any suggestions about other ways to reduce this likelihood?

If I were you, I'd just interview. That shows your seriousness about Vandy and it really isn't that nerve-wrecking. Also, the Law Scholar Merit Award application would probably be a good idea. Though with those stats, you could go ahead and back your bags for HYS, but I can understand wanting to stay close to home. That's why Vandy's at the top of my list too.

I think phone interviews are an option...

It won't help you get accepted b/c it's a private (which you don't need) but it may help you avoid YP

Well, the last cycle started seeing acceptances around Oct. 25 so here's to hoping!

Got a "complete" e-mail today that mentioned most September/October completed applications being finished by December.

How many days did it take for you to get the complete e-mail?

Honestly, as a Vandy 1L I really don't think they do much YP here, as long as you show some sort of interest in the school (do the interview for sure, maybe write a Why Vandy). My classmates have numbers all over the board, and some of them had high enough numbers to get into T10s (and did). As a plus, Vandy has given them decent schollys, they're is very generous with money.

It was about a week between my application submission and their "complete" e-mail.

For people that have already interviewed:
Did you submit your app way in advance?
Did you put your LSAT and GPA on the resume that they asked for after scheduling the interview?
Any other advice?

I'm a huge, huge reach, so I need to nail this.

I interviewed in late September and had my app complete by 10/1. My interviewer contacted me literally within 20 minutes of my requesting an interview. I put my GPA but not LSAT on my resume for the interview, but he didn't even look at what I brought because he said he got to see my entire application as soon as he was assigned to me.

Don't be nervous. Be excited, enthusiastic, outgoing. My interviewer asked me about all my other applications and gave me tips about 1L. It was really informal and a great experience.

Well I'm doing an on-campus interview there at the law school. I'm rocking a pretty nice split, hence me saying it was a reach, so I was nervous about just sending my resume where they would just see the red flag of the GPA without the LSAT.

Do you have to wait to schedule an interview after you submit an app?

I didn't. They ask for a resume though.

I didn't either, I don't think the interviews are completely consistent and they vary in terms of formality - mine was at Starbucks.
