ugh that is terrible. How long was this nightmare interview?

Also. how long did it take you to get an interview after you requested one on your VLS account? It's been just over a week and i haven't heard anything yet...

It only took me 4-5 days before the woman interviewing me called me to set up the interview. And, my Vanderbilt version of hell lasted for 40 minutes. Probably the closest I'm getting to Nashville.

Interview 10/6ish (good experience)
Law Scholars forms submitted.

Anyone heard/have a clue when Vandy is going to give us some news?

Do you know if its important to submit the scholarship forms when you apply? I applied awhile ago and haven't submitted them yet.

Nah. From what I gather it doesn't matter at all as long as you get it in before the deadline. I just wanted to be finished with everything so I wouldn't have to think about it.

I also believed (incorrectly) at the time that they might read my Law Scholars essays with my regular app, thus helping my chances....But everything I read now suggests that is pretty far off.

If I'm complete but my interviewer keeps bitching out on me (literally cancelled 10 minutes before the interview), does that put off when I hear back from Vandy, or will they make a decision regardless of whether my interview has been completed?

I applied here on the first day of the application cycle, anybody know when first decisions may start coming out?

Due to the lack of hearing back-ness in this thread thus far, I'd recommend contacting the admissions office directly and asking them this question (albeit with nicer language :P )

Lol +1

Oh, I've already prepared myself for the fact that I probably won't be living in Nashville next year.

Ughhh, sorry to hear that. I guess it feels worse too because you voluntarily subjected yourself to something you had reason to think would be pleasant, or at least bearable.

I hope I get some softball questions and basic courtesy. I think you're fine as long as you made it clear you're not a freak or anything. You know, collegial and what all.

Would finding information on your interviewer be weird? Just generally knowing what part of the industry they're in, etc.

Thoughts?

Wow everybody's horror stories make me feel good about my phone interview. I seriously shot the the breeze with my interviewer and we pretty much talked about our specific reasons for wanting to do law. Guess its luck of the draw? Anyways the suspense is killing me....hoping for an early Christmas gift from vandy.

Applied: 10/21
Complete: 10/31

Don't worry about the interview too much. I know some people who had great interviews and didn't get in, and I know one who had a bad interview and did get in (the only person I know who had a bad interview). I can't say for sure, but I doubt the interview makes or breaks your application.

Mine was very soft, and the interviewer was extremely genial. Offered to keep in touch and give me advice no matter where I landed. I'd definitely recommend at least looking at their LinkedIn profile; if there's a photo you'll know who you're meeting!

I opted non-interview because I am an international student and it is currently impossible for me to travel to the U.S. will this affect my chance of getting in?

shouldn't really affect your chances, but you can do a phone interview or skype i believe. An interview does not require travelling to Nashville...

No, they don't factor into admissions decisions

Thanks. I've done this, I was just wondering if knowing what firm they work for, etc. would come off as creepy or prepared.

For those who have done the merit application, or looked at it, what do you think the direction I should take for question 5?

I submitted mine before I scheduled the interview, its not a problem they just add it to your file later. Go for it, it was a great opportunity to learn more about the school if nothing more. Made me seriously consider Vandy!
