Just a heads-up... I called the admissions office to be sure and although they didn't directly say whether or not to include traffic tickets she just reiterated that I should use full disclosure... I kind of took that as include it just to be safe...msblaw89 wrote:No, minor traffic violation ( i.e speeding ticket) don't count. Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I checked yes (I have speeding tickets from years ago and have a clean record outside of that). I don't remember the exact dates or how much I was speeding by so I just said, "I was cited for driving over the speed limit in the winter of 200X and in the summer of 200X. To the best of my recollection, I was driving approximately 5 and 10 miles over the speed limit. I have developed to be a much more responsible driver since then and have not been subject to any further tickets or sanctions."Oftranch wrote:On the character and fitness questions do I need to check yes on the question below if I have gotten a speeding ticket? I gave that explanation to every school that didn't specifically say to "exclude minor traffic violations" so I can be on the safe side. I don't think it's affected my cycle poorly yet. (I was in the first batch of Vandy black boxes.) HTH!

It's better to err on the side of caution and disclose. It's not going to affect your admissions cycle and you avoid the possibility of having to deal with it for C&F.msblaw89 wrote:No, minor traffic violation ( i.e speeding ticket) don't count. Again, I withheld from disclosing my speeding tickets only when the question for the specific school directly states to exclude minor traffic violations.
ETA: You do not have to go out and buy an $8 DMV record like some TLSers have suggested in the past. I verified this with a couple t14 deans and the consensus was "always disclose but we understand if the details of speeding tickets from years ago are hazy... we'll ask if we need further clarification."

Stats and dates:
-Complete: 11/28 (private)

-Softs: TFA, worked for a congressman, student leadership
FWIW, I did do an interview and my "Decision Mailed" date is still blank.

Just got an email from my interviewer, will probably have an interview next Wednesday.
Any advice on how to prepare? And what is the dressing code?

You might not get asked these questions, but be prepared to answer "why law" or more likely, "why Vandy." Have some questions about the things difficult to glean from a viewbook (i.e. culture, study habits of students, "collegiality," etc.). Also, be ready to ask about clinics or programs relevant to your career path.rachelwang712 wrote:Just got an email from my interviewer, will probably have an interview next Wednesday.

Couldn't say for women, but for men, suits are overkill. "Business casual" I suppose.

to prepare know your resume and have a few questions about vandy ready. For my interview I wore a suit but the interview was with a vandy adcomm who was coming to an event at my school. I felt like the suit was the right move for this situation.rachelwang712 wrote:Just got an email from my interviewer, will probably have an interview next Wednesday.

Just got an email from FedEx saying I had a package being shipped from Vanderbilt. I checked the status checker and it was still blank under "Decision Mailed Date."
Dunno what this means.
