Not to sound rude, but there seem to be a lot of people with much stronger numbers and "pretty good" softs who applied early and barely got anything. While I don't think anyone means to be bitter to you (after all its not your decision), it'd be nice to know just what we were missing. But congrats on being one of the lucky few and if you don't go to UT feel free to pass my name on to receive it instead! lol
I'm not sure what qualities they are looking for in the research position, so I can't really say what qualties they saw in me that they may not have seen in other applicants. I'm fluent in Spanish and have studied abroad and have worked with the spanish-speaking community where I went to school. I've consistently held at least 2 part-time jobs during college while maintaining nearly a 4.0 with a double major, which could be a reason why they would think I would be able to handle the research position while doing well in law school. I did a lot of research into UT and made my interest clear in my PS and Essays. I've had various leadership positions with different organizations. I don't really want to go into too much detail/specifics online.
Like I said, I think I am very blessed and fortunate to receive the offer. I don't think about why, I'm just grateful that they chose me.
