I've been lurking but figured I'd pop in and join the fun, I got the call yesterday too! I'd really like to go but I'm afraid without a substantial scholarship, which is likely not happening, I'm probably out.

Did they mention any scholarship info over the phone or via email to anyone? Because nothing has been mentioned to me thus far so I'm not sure if that means no money for me or if it will just come in the packet they sent.

BU's employing like 60+ of their students? Jesus. I guess it's better than NOT employing them but things are rough out there. Still, around 100 ppl got law firm jobs.

I guess to keep in mind is that this class's OCI was in 2009 and that was the first one after the financial collapse. It was dark days. I think you'll see the number uptick at least modestly.

True. We'll be OCI'ing a good 13-14 months from now...hopefully things are better by then.

Keep in mind that they explained this includes jobs for outside groups (government, non-profit) that can't afford to hire students, so BU funds them through a stipend for a short time, essentially hoping that the organization will be able to work out funding in that time or see your work as so good that they need to hire you - if not immediately when the funding from BU runs out then shortly following. Since the money comes from BU, it has to be listed as them employing the students.

EDIT: I checked the data in more detail. They only have 17 actually working for the school. you can also see the list of where people being funded are working at that link.

On another note, does anyone have suggestions for negotiating in terms of when to stop/if you are asking for too much? They increased my scholarship, but I still need more to truly justify attending in comparison to other options. I don't want to be that aggravating person constantly negotiating, but even a seemingly small scholarship can make a big difference over three years.
