So going to Loyola (ranked in the 50's) is a better bet for me than going to BU (ranked #22) for getting a job in SoCal?eaper wrote:The general consensus is that everywhere is regional outside the top 14 schools, and most of them are still at least somewhat regional.bingbang1025 wrote:What is BU's reputation nationally? Yup. Unless you have something like a guaranteed job lined up or really strong ties to the area, the general rule of thumb is to go to school where you want to practice.bingbang1025 wrote:So going to Loyola (ranked in the 50's) is a better bet for me than going to BU (ranked #22) for getting a job in SoCal?eaper wrote:The general consensus is that everywhere is regional outside the top 14 schools, and most of them are still at least somewhat regional.bingbang1025 wrote:What is BU's reputation nationally? I kind of hope that BU Adcomms read this forum and plan on awarding all of us 12/6ers some kind of scholarship for demonstrating extraordinary comradery.
Also, our 2 month anniversary is coming up!

it's sad but true; rankings don't matter past the t14 when it comes to getting jobs across the country. probably has something to do with alum presence.

No scholly in initial offer (no surprise numbers weren't great). Bu is definitely my number 1 choice, but minn offered me 23 k a year / i couldnt really justify going to a peer school at sticker. I guess I'll wait until march and then try to negotiate...
Hoping it goes well... On one hand I have some decent offers to bring up. On the other Hand my numbers of even getting accepted were borderline so they might give me a "lol wut"

2 things -- 1. the Pens beat the Bruins in Boston 2-1, thereby cementing acceptances for all Penguin fans in this forum.
2. I didn't go complete on 12/6 but my birthday is 12/5 so I consider myself an honorary junior member.

Wait a couple of weeks. I didn't get a scholly offer in the initial admit packet either. They tend to come after the first packet. I'd be surprised if they didn't offer some cash.ThreeRivers wrote:No scholly in initial offer (no surprise numbers weren't great). Is anyone else stuck at 1/27? I always seem to get an update the day AFTER they make a bunch of admissions calls. On another note, just washed my Welker jersey in preparation for tomorrow - I think that should be grounds for an auto-admit

Late discovery: moved to 2/2 on Friday. I've been convincing myself to let go of the status checking for a bit.
And by that I mean less than twice a day on weekdays.
