Soo I got WL'd at GWU, but a full-ride from W&L...BU is oh-so-appealing to me and I've sifted through the data on LSN for countless hours, so now I just want an honest opinion....am I going to get in?

Edit: 3.6/167 (if you care to lurk, see my profile under the same name on LSN)

Hard to say. A lot of us are stuck in status checker purgartory with 168-169's and 3.3-3.8's.

fwiw, a kid with a 3.4, 167 got in a couple days ago. You, at the very least, have a shot. BU's median is a 167 this year isn't it?

Thanks for the input -- it's nice to not be talking to myself about it for once, lol

haha, I know exactly what you mean. I'm stressing about this one big time, it's probably my number 1-2 choice.

I'm that 3.44, 167 kid. I think its a 3.48 now (but never sent in updated transcripts_

Also, I was rejected from GW and received a half-ride from W&L... so based on our previous results it looks like you should be OK

As for my softs:
I went to a really weak UG and have marginal (at best) other softs. The only thing that might work in my favor is since freshman year I've had all 4.0's. I received a 0.00 semester in my second semester after multiple deaths in my family / wasn't attending class and was dumb enough not to withdrawal. I'd like to think maybe BU took into consideration I would have a 3.9 if it wasn't for that semester, but I doubt it (my cycle has been really predictable numbers wise)

My guess is you're in pretty good shape

Judging by your picture and name, you're also from the Burgh -- if I get in, we can be the only Pens fans in Beantown...especially tomorrow lol

Oh, I got a note at the bottom of my acceptance letter. That was pretty cool. Apparently they'd like to "have a talented photographer" in their class next year. I guess the adcomm checked out some of my stuff.

I love little notes like that in acceptance packages.

I found out I was accepted over voicemail a few days ago and was hoping for an acceptance packet in my mailbox today but, alas, nothing...

I love it when they do that too. Tech and Georgetown both mentioned philosophy (mentioned in my PS/interview), and I really liked that.

What is BU's reputation nationally? Is it more of a regional school in terms of getting a firm job?

The general consensus is that everywhere is regional outside the top 14 schools, and most of them are still at least somewhat regional.

Is it weird that part of me won't mind if I get dinged, because then I'll get to write something for the Ding Bar?

Also, congrats to thelong, and sorry to those that were dinged today.

Is it weird that now when I sign in to my status checker I'm a little relieved when I see that I'm still at 12/6?
