I was also deferred (167, 3.58). Regardless of admissions cycle, will retake LSAT in June for third time. If I score better, I am comfortable reapplying for next cycle. In fact, I imagine 2014 will be a better year for OCI than 2013, due to the European crisis.

Unlikely, I only see this European crisis getting worse as countries realize they can't use a "one size fits all" currency.tennisking88 wrote:Which some crystal ball no one is aware of says will be solved in 2014 but not 2013.IronSkadden wrote: due to the European crisis.

Before we spiral way off topic: sounds like the BU ED program was not quite what BU was expecting?

I guess so... bc RD applicants with lower numbers than the ED applicants were already acceptedmijenks wrote:Before we spiral way off topic: sounds like the BU ED program was not quite what BU was expecting?

Perhaps, I didn't think I had a chance, it was a longshot but a lot of scholarship is going to be needed for me to head to Boston.
Maybe they just admitted 30 out of the hundreds and the 30 with the highest numbers?

Why? Because some of the 10-15 ppl who applied to it on TLS were deferred? Was anyone who was deferred above both of BU's medians/at 75%?mijenks wrote:Before we spiral way off topic: sounds like the BU ED program was not quite what BU was expecting?

This is most likely the case. Although I'd venture to say it was probably more like 10-15 accepted.zurcaled11 wrote:mijenks wrote:Before we spiral way off topic: sounds like the BU ED program was not quite what BU was expecting?

And same here in regards to the $$$. I would love to go to BU but not enough so to put myself into massive debt.

Re: Boston University c/o 2015 Applicants
I suspect this is true of many of the ED candidates (myself included). Now that I know I have to accept debt for law school, I'm looking up to the very best schools I can get into rather than just dishing out tons of money to BU.BigBlueLaw wrote:And same here in regards to the $$$. Also, to whoever asked about numbers earlier, I was above 75th LSAT and below 25th GPA.

In the next several months, Europe will either arrive at a credible solution (like ECB stepping in with fiscal power) or it won't. If it doesn't, it seems likely some countries will default. If there are a few European sovereign defaults in 2012, OCI should be better in 2014 than 2013, if only because 2013 is guaranteed to be bad.
The drama is going down in 2012, for better or worse.

Trying to prognosticate the European debt crisis and then applying it to an OCI process 3 years away, is beyond retarded.IronSkadden wrote:In the next several months, Europe will either arrive at a credible solution (like ECB stepping in with fiscal power) or it won't. Agreed, you can't plan your life around what may or may not happen to the economy. There are always going to be credible threats to a stable economy.tennisking88 wrote:Trying to prognosticate the European debt crisis and then applying it to an OCI process 3 years away, is beyond retarded.IronSkadden wrote:In the next several months, Europe will either arrive at a credible solution (like ECB stepping in with fiscal power) or it won't. Re: Boston University c/o 2015 Applicants
this is what has me nervous. if i'm not gonna get ED i'd like my app to be considered for RD as soon as possible, rather than thrown in the pool with a bunch of people that applied after me. looks like they're gonna keep me waiting right up until december 20th thoughcstan wrote:well yeah that was my first question...I wanted to know whether our applications entered the RD people as if we had applied before 11/15 in the rolling admissions process...or whether they would be entered as of right now and we would find out in march or something...didn't really get a good answer, but she was very nice. i think I still really want to go to BU, so i'm praying!

There's a significant possibility there will be an economic meltdown in Europe in 2012. A reasonable person would factor this into his law school plans.

It sounds more like something a person would due to rationalize their choice of waiting a cycle.IronSkadden wrote:There's a significant possibility there will be an economic meltdown in Europe in 2012. A reasonable person would factor this into his law school plans.

If Europe has an economic meltdown I can assure you that it will be a gruesomely complicated and long recovery, with some, if not all, countries leaving the Euro. It's not at all likely that it will be any better in 2014 than 2013, even if the "crisis" happens in 2012, of which no one is also sure. How any of this will impact OCI or employment is also beyond anything we can predict (the market is already pretty shitty, remember?).IronSkadden wrote:There's a significant possibility there will be an economic meltdown in Europe in 2012. If Europe weren't faring as poorly as it is, I would agree. But to ignore a giant problem right in front of you is misguided.minnbills wrote:There is always some calamity lurking in the future, it's part of the nature of capitalism.IronSkadden wrote:There's a significant possibility there will be an economic meltdown in Europe in 2012. (I hope you realize that I'm just ribbing you here, though I think your statement about the reasonableness of making a prediction regarding the European crisis three years out is a bit silly)

You clearly applied for this cycle so you weren't concerned about the 2013 OCI season until you got dinged? Give me a freaking break and STFU already.
You don't come off as more informed because you're talking about this, you come off as more douchey.

Also misguided to apply a nebulous threat to your own circumstances on a 3-year horizon. Your goal now is to get into the best law school you can for as little money as possible. You should worry more about job prospects while/after you enroll, not before. For all you know, you could wait a year or two, get into a better school, get mediocre grades, and it won't really matter if it's a shitty economy.IronSkadden wrote:If Europe weren't faring as poorly as it is, I would agree.
