Yield protect? Do they even do that at schools like GSU?

I too was put on hold today(157/3.37). I immediately called the office to ask what held mean. She seemed pretty adamant that hold and wait-listed are NOT the same thing.

Hold is apparently better than waitlist. If you are waitlisted, you are waiting for better applicants to withdraw. Being on hold makes it more likely that you will be admitted....I think.roneman90 wrote:I too was put on hold today(157/3.37). I immediately called the office to ask what held mean. These really aren't huge deals, honestly. It's surprising.kneedrag wrote:You do realize you have to pass C&F right? -edit-
don't know why the other guy deleted his post, but here is what I said:
possession charge? check
dui as a minor? check
felony or not, not exactly minor incidents. its not like he had "a" DUI as an adult, or had "a" possession charge. Looking at the cumulative sum, that would be a pretty fancy essay to convince someone that in no way represented your character (not trying to start a flame war, just pointing out that I would hardly find it surprising to get ding'd with that without seeing the rest of his application).

Re: Georgia State University c/o 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
the convictions were misdemeanors and I've never been arrested for a felony. the lesson is clear though, C&F can have a large impact on your cycle. Of course i don't think that these incidences represent my character as of today, but i can understand why a law school may see me as a risk.
Anyway, good luck to everyone else still waiting

I'm stuck in "complete and ready for review" purgatory.

For C&F, what do you do about potential traffic citations >7 years ago when the GA DDS only provides 7 year reports?

Asking about traffic tickets from long ago:
You need to call the county from which your citation was issued. Many times old traffic tickets get lost after the matter is resolved, whether in court or by simply paying the fine, due to their relative insignificance. If the clerk cannot find a record of your court disposition, then simply mention that in your character and fitness application (I am assuming you are getting this information together to apply to the bar; most schools do not require you to obtain official documentation for admission, including Georgia State). They just want to make sure you, "leave no stone unturned". When I applied to Florida they made me get all official court documentation for speeding tickets I received when I was 16, and for which there was no offical record to be found. This is what they told me. If you are in ANY doubt, just contact the admissions office; however, I am confident they will tell you the same thing.

Re: Georgia State University c/o 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
My status was stuck at "complete and ready for review" since the beginning of January and changed to "second review pending". Today I received an "admission decision letter" via email that simply said I'm being held for a second review, and that they "try to notify" by April 15. I'm hoping based on what I've seen from others that the notice is sooner rather than later.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
