I tried and tried. No login. Then all of a sudden, it works. I know the password was the same b/c it was in my keychain the entire time. Weird.Ga0-3L wrote:Me, too.kneedrag wrote:I can log in just fine.SarahT wrote:Anyone not able to log in Paws this morning?

Is there more scholarship info coming out too? Non ALS I mean? I was really leaning towards GSU, but now I'm not sure...

Re: Georgia State University c/o 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
I think so. Because when I called to accept my scholarship I was told that ALS would negate this scholarship (if I got it) b/c ALS is full tuition, but that if I didn't get ALS I could try and renegotiate this scholarship "after they were all given out" and after all that were going to be accepted had been. I got the idea that there would be more from the tone of that conversation. Also there was 1 week to accept or decline my scholarship so I think they may do a second round after that week is over and some people decline. But it's all just speculation.Supurbia wrote:Is there more scholarship info coming out too? Non ALS I mean? I was really leaning towards GSU, but now I'm not sure...

Re: Georgia State University c/o 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
I called the law school admission office and had a pretty hilarious conversation regarding my financial aid. I was pretty shocked; It sounded like I was talking to an undergrad they hired or something, very very unprofessional.
me: "When can I expect to receive my financial aid package"
admissions: "Umm..package?"
me: "Yeah, GSUs financial aid offer to me?"
admissions: "There's, um, like no package"
me: "What?"
admissions: "No, it's like a letter. Definitely not in a package. That would be too expensive to ship."
me: (thinking wtf) "Okay, when can I get my letter?"
admissions: "ionno."
me: (argh) "Can I talk to anyone who knows what the timetable is to receive my aid offer?"
admissions: "umm...no."
me: "No? There's no one that can help me?"
admissions: "umm..like i'm pretty sure no. Sorry."
For everyone asking about their financial aid, you can try calling them 404.413.9200 and hopefully you'll have more luck than me

hahaha I think I talked to the same girl too. She refused to give the phone to the admission officer about a question that she eventually had to ask the admission officer to get an answer. She's amazing.

I also finally got some real information as to what they are looking for. The first step is merit, the second is financial need - these two things or the first get you the app. Then they are looking for those people that "so embody the type of student" that Atlanta Law School used to provide legal education to. So I read the ALS wikipedia and I feel like I can so embody that type of person. I hope they read PS and take that into account, I think they do. So... take that for what you will.
The school began in 1890 and closed it doors in 1994. It was accredited by the Georgia Board of Bar examiners. Today the school continues as a scholarship fund for those students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to practice law. In 1890, Hamilton Douglas, Sr., Hooper Alexander, Archibald H. Davis and Charles A. Read, began night law classes for those who were unable to attend law classes during the day. The law school has graduated over 6,000 in its 104 years of operation. It was incorporated under the laws of the State of Georgia in 1892. The law school conferred the Bachelor of Laws degree and students had diploma privileges along with the University of Georgia and Mercer University. Later the school adopted the Juris Doctor degree as the requirements of admission to the bar included college credits and finally a college degree. Students could return for an advance degree the Master of Laws in litigation.
The late Hamilton Douglas, Sr., served as Dean of the Law School. His son Hamilton Douglas, Jr. continued the school until the Honorable Herschel E Cole, became the last Dean of the school. Members of the Georgia judiciary, state legislature, business owners received their legal training at the school. Atlanta's first female lawyer, Minnie Hale Daniel was a graduate of the Atlanta law School in 1911. <"Atlanta and Its Lawyers: A Century of Vision:1888-1988" ISBN 0-9621443-0-4> National Legal Fraternity Delta Theta Phi had an active senate at the school. The School offered the Valedictorian Prize, Harrison Company Prize and The Hershel E. Cole League of Honor Graduates.
In 1998 the State Bar of Georgia modified the requirements for bar admission allowing only ABA accredited law school graduates to take the bar exam This rule charge affected the three night law schools in Georgia. Atlanta Law School trustees decided to close the school. The Woodrow Wilson College of Law (founded in 1933) attempted to merge with Georgia State University but was unsuccessful and its library and records are housed at Oglethorpe University . John Marshall Law School(founded in 1933) was able to meet the requirements of the ABA and continues to this day.

The wait is totally killing me... and I'm losing seats at other schools waiting to get a decision. Sigh.

Maybe there will be some movement after they get the scholarship info out to the early appliers.
