At this point I'm really considering UGA at sticker over Bama with the same-ish scholarship. Really got the feeling Bama tries/needs to place their out of state students in states other than Alabama. Smells like a recipe for disaster to me, but I could be wrong and just brainwashed by all of the talk on TLS.

For me I'd rather work with my alumni than go to school in Alabama and try to work in Atlanta/Nashville/whatever else their career services is pimping at the time (one kid I taklked to that was a 1L at Bama was shooting for Denver). Really liked the school/people, but the idea of trying to get a job in Huntsville/Mobile/Montgomery is pretty terrifying. At least in Georgia I can talk to people about how it's a travesty that the UGA-Clemson rivalry has effectively ended aside from baseball, or how many RB's they have taken from us over the years (except Crowell was a gift from us).

I take much of what I see on TLS with a grain of salt. Especially when it comes to 0Ls and 1Ls spouting off the rules of legal hiring for every market in the country. This is not to say that there aren't helpful, knowledgeable people on this board, though.

It's still pretty neck and neck for me, even with the cost discrepancy. Hopefully my visits will help make my decision easier.

It is probably going to get cancelled because of league expansion, which is super lame. If we both (SEC & ACC) go to 9 game conference schedules, it the series probably won't happen.

It's terrible because it used to be an awesome rivalry. Death valley has a bunch of banners up in the stadium from some of thr best games in Clemson history, and a bunch of them are against UGA. Heck, Clemson is closer to athens than to USC jr.

Just curious, has anyone committed or is extremely close to committing?

Received the WL letter last week, wrote a LOCI this past weekend and just mailed it out this past Tuesday. UGA is a reach for me, so I'm surprised I even made the WL. But now that I"m on it, I really really want to go!!!!!!!! Anybody not serious about going, please withdraw. :D

How long does this waitlist thing typically last? I've never been on a waitlist before.

Good luck to everyone by the way. We might be classmates in the fall. ;)

I'm pretty close, waiting on emory but even if I get in I'll probably still choose uga. I also have a bit of a reach app at Fordham but the high price would probably keep me here anyway.

just came back from the jones day reception, extremely impressed with UGA alums! (and how friendly they all were :D )
can't wait for WIPI tomorrow! this is definitely point 1 for UGA.

Ditto, had a great time at the Jones Day reception. Emory would have to give me a crazy scholly for me to change my mind at this point Everyone was very easy to talk to, and happy to speak to us as well. Glad I went.

Went as well, wasn't sure if I was going to go at first but definitely glad I did! Wonder if I ran into you throughout the reception.

Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express are both about a 5 minute walk from the law school.

Try the Hilton Garden Inn. In heart of downtown Athens. Stayed there; it's nice. Bit pricey, however.

So I think I'm about ready to commit! Anyone else considering the graduate housing?

unless you have kids...just no.

Edit: To clarify, there are cheaper and closer options of similar quality. It is generally not something I'd recommend. You'd have to take the bus everyday when you could live somewhere like Steeplechase for 250 a month and walk.

laxbrah420 wrote:whats the schedule for this thing? i dont know if i should book the 30th, 31st or both.

If I recall correctly, it usually starts in the morning and goes until about 5/6 (reception) on the 31st. I'd recommend coming on Friday during the school day so you can see the law school in action (I highly doubt there will be actual students around the school on the 31st because Barristers Ball--AKA law prom--is that day). So it really just depends on what day you'd like to go out (if that is your thing). If it were me, I'd go down Friday, organize with some other admitted students to go downtown that night, then Saturday go to ASD and go home after a beer at the reception.

Also Pro Tip for ASD: They schedule you in rotating groups to eat lunch/go on the tour. It doesn't matter if you go when you are supposed to--eat lunch first. They always run out of food. Now don't go telling EVERYONE that because then it will throw it off, but I promise if 10 people or so change their order it won't matter at all.

I recently withdrew, so that may open up a spot on the waitlist. Good luck everyone!

I just sang Rocky Top in my head for the first and last time. May your future law school excel and may their football team continue to plummet.
