I wonder what it feels like to be insulted when a T14 offers an acceptance and a scholarship. Tough, no doubt.

I wouldn't call my numbers "exceptional," but I'm above both medians and above one 75th percentile. :?

I'll give you an exceptional rating!

one 25 percentiles and was accepted on 10/31 via phone.

They're super limited with scholarship money this year because of the Texas state budget fiasco that went down this year in the state legislature. The whole university is that way.

Ha, yeah, that kinda made me sound a bit b*tchy... I'm gonna blame UVA. They spoiled me with their initial offer, lol.

Can't say for sure. But the whole UT system is down 100 million dollars, as is A&M and other big public universities in Texas. I can only imagine that this would have an impact on scholarship dollars. It did on undergraduate admissions.

But I have no direct evidence that it is impacting the law school. So take this with a huge heaping spoon of salt. It's just a guess.

I received a full ride with not-so-stellar numbers (3.77/167/AA Female). Decent softs, but eh...shows they're still giving out something, right?

For those who haven't been, I visited UT's campus recently and enjoyed it quite a bit. I toured the facility, sat in on a Torts class, and was able to speak with admissions as well. Every student I spoke to was incredibly friendly. Before the class started, several students were genuinely interested in explaining how congenial the student body is and it really showed. The professor even managed to sprinkle in a few jokes throughout his lecture on causation that managed to get the 90+ students laughing. Thought I would share for those who haven't ventured to Austin.

You're an AA female at one of their medians and above the other (even if only by a little) - you give them diversity AND help improve their medians. The fact that you got a full-ride tells the rest of us nothing - they would give you one even if they were heavily cutting scholarships.

On a separate note: congratulations! I hope you're applying to some higher-ranked schools as well. A full-ride at Texas must be hard to turn down, but you might get full-rides or serious $$$ from some of the t14.

I'm glad you mentioned T14 because I've been meaning to ask...Is Texas not considered a T14? Looks like USNews has them tied at 14 this year. Is it because they haven't been in that position long enough to cement the T14 label?

The law school is situated at one of the corners of campus and - as the law students themselves will admit - is not a selling point. This probably explains the dearth of pictures. The law school isn't particularly gorgeous, but the UT campus as a whole is great. And of course, Austin is one hell of a town.

People on this site are going to tell you that the t14 is the group of schools that have all - at some point - been in the top 10 on US News rankings.

Of course, that distinction is fairly meaningless / arbitrary. Texas certainly places better than some of the t14. It will become even more meaningless when Texas - and eventually Vandy, I suspect - start ranking higher than the bottom t14 schools. But perhaps in a few years Texas will make the top 10, and then it will officially become the t15.

And most importantly, in my opinion, Texas places into Houston/Dallas, where the cost of living is the lowest of the big markets.

Interesting. I feel like my numbers are awful, probably because I spend too much time on here... :)

Thanks! I am still hoping for a miracle in the form of an H or S acceptance. Anyone else worried about the portability of a degree from Texas?
