You did the FAFSA right? Taxes or no taxes, you still have to file the FAFSA to get aid.

Yes I did the FASFA and it only says "You are not eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant because you reported that you have a bachelor's degree (Item 28) or you are working on a degree beyond a
bachelor's degree (Item 47). Your Financial Aid Administrator will determine what types of federal student aid you are eligible to receive."

Also emailed FinAid at UT and they only said to wait a week or two..

What is the situation with parking? When/where do we apply/pay for a pass?

Do you think there will still be apartments left in July? When will be the absolute latest that one should look for a decent apartment?

How is everyone dealing with the housing situation if you are waitlisted in other places?

Would love to know the answer to this as well...

Also, any current UT students have tips/ideas on looking for international students as roommates (forums, postings, where to search etc)? I'm not an international student but would like to find some roommates who are.

Yes. There will be plenty of housing in July, but it will likely not be in North Campus. Longhorn Luxe is a brand new complex in West Campus that is at 0% occupancy right now so they'll have spots for sure in July at good rates.

I posted a realtor's name and number in the admitted students group - "Nathan Napolitano" - he's great to talk to about any of your housing questions and needs. PM me if you need his number again.

Received the call from Dean Ingram this afternoon and was admitted off the wait list! :D She didn't mention a scholarship, but when I brought up finances she said to email her my other offers.

I am really pumped about Texas and am pretty sure I am going to be a Longhorn in the fall. The only reason I wouldn't go is if I felt that it wasn't financially feasible.

Is there a facebook page for the class of 15? Is that where most admits are talking about housing?

Edit - Stats are 3.5/168. Out of State resident. From Oregon, currently a senior at the University of Oregon.

If you live in the University Apartments, are you able to join a meal plan?
How much would that be?
I'm trying to see if I would be able to afford this school...

I don't know anyone who lives in the University Apartments, and if I remember correctly they're pretty expensive. I would recommend trying to find something closer and cheaper. I have a roommate and it costs me about 650 a month in rent + all utilities and I'm very close to the school.

I also do not know anyone on a meal plan system. You can probably figure your lunch much cheaper by just bringing your own our eating subway or Jimmy Johns if UT's meal plans are anything like my undergrads (were it worked out that a meal cost like $9). I know some restaurants advertise to undergrads that they take Bevo bucks, but I'm not sure what the advantage to doing that for grad students would be (when the money is usually coming from loans, not parents).

University Apartments are not expensive at all. I'm not sure about the meal plan thing but coming from out of state we are looking into this option and a 2 bedroom is around $700 a month and includes utilities (not gas in one of the communities), internet and basic cable.

I remember this thread being longer. Did part of it get purged or something?

Anyways I got an email this morning saying I'm still waitlisted. The way they write em makes it look like a rejection if you aren't paying attention (though it seems like at this point it might as well be one).

I wonder what would happen if I sent this as a reply:

Everything here is currently pre leasing for August. I moved down early as I enjoy the city and wanted to get to know it before school started.

Has there been much waitlist movement? LSN only has one person who has updated as far as I can tell.

I know someone who got a call from Monica Ingram today after responding to an email asking if he was still interested.

Hey guys!

I got an email (2pm CST) from Monica Ingram saying that she had looked through the waitlist today and saw that I had indicated I was still interested in UT Law and asked if I this was still the case. And if so to reply to her as soon as possible.

Anyone else gotten this email today? Or does anyone know of anyone getting one like it?

I'm trying not to get too excited here so can someone please talk me down.

This!

I talked to her today. She said I was accepted and that I should call Tuesday to find out about my Fin Aid Package (I told her about BostonU giving me 115K).

Pretty excited and definitely glad I put off getting a lease in Boston.

Just curious for you guys, but I'm thinking about sending an app for next year. I'm a 3.5/167, but I'm instate and went to UT. I saw someone who got in off the wait list with those numbers. You think I'd get wait listed and accepted late, or is it just a big crap shoot off the wait list?

To me, the waitlist movement seemed to be about one of two things this year - high LSAT score OR showing continued interest (writing locis, etc.).

I could definitely show continued interest with multiple LOCIs and visits. I would retake the LSAT but if things go my way that would be impossible next year.
