Texas 2011-2012 Applicants
I didn't see another thread so I figured I'd start one. Anyone else applying? I submitted a few days ago, but I still haven't gotten a status checker.

Re: Texas 2011-2012 Applicants
I understand Texas begins accepting applicants as early as the first week of October. I wonder if they begin rejecting applicants that early too.
My numbers are not really Texas material. I am considering retaking the LSAT, but I don't know how much difference it would make. My LSAT score is fine, it's my UGPA that's the problem.
But I know that some people with numbers similar to mine got into Texas, so I still have hope.
I sure would like to have a status checker, though.

Re: Texas 2011-2012 Applicants
Applying to Texas was one of my most annoying applications. I have a LSAC fee waiver, which apparently doesn't mean anything to Texas cause you got to fill out this other form and submit paper and blah blah blah to get a need based waiver. So I do that, get all my ducks in a row, fill out a paper app to boot and mail it all in together around 9/5. About a week later, I get an e-mail offering me a merit fee waiver through the online application. ::FACEPALM:: Then I get a letter in the mail saying I didn't sign the last page of the application (my bad, really), but now everything is in, but it's not even LSAC complete yet! And if I had waited a week, it would be just like all my other applications.
FML.
BTW, 172 LSAT/3.93 GPA, in case anyone wants to know.

I got a status checker in the email today. I know that doesn't mean anything, but it makes me feel like a real applicant.

I have heard it said that the medians and stuff are pretty much the same for in or out of state. I have noticed, on LSN, out-of-staters who apply later being rejected with what I would have thought were competetive numbers. I think UT likes to get their class organized pretty early in the year. So, my conclusion is that the only quantifiable difference for out-of-staters is at they are at a disadvantage if they apply after November.

Did anyone get a residency-verification email asking them to fill out more residency information for their application?

There is a law limiting out of state admissions at UT. But, if you have the numbers, you're in.sangr wrote:anyone know how much harder it is for out of staters to get in?

I graduated from Texas three years ago, and it is the only school I am considering in the state. Just waiting to take the December LSAT. Even if I don't end up at UT Law, I will always bleed burnt orange.
Hook 'Em to any on here that become future Longhorns. Good luck to everyone.
(And also, enjoy Austin. Best city in Texas by far.)

Re: Texas 2011-2012 Applicants
is this the only email we get from texas?
the one claiming that they have received our application but we need to check through LSAC? thing is i applied for Early decision. dont schools usually give you another notification if you apply early decision? also, do they have a status checker? (im guessing not)
thanks!

They sent me two emails. The "Application Received" email and then a status checker email about four days later. Texas doesn't use the same status checker program most of the other schools use, but they do have a status checker.sangr wrote:is this the only email we get from texas?

For those who applied in the beginning of October, what do your status checkers say? Is anybody "Under Review" or are people sitting at "Application Complete"? Thank you very much!

Re: Texas 2011-2012 Applicants
I applied ED around the first week the application was available and my file still says "Complete" not "Under Review." I'm hoping it's like GULC in that they don't transition over on the status checker. Does anyone have a more specific timeline for ED other than sometime in October/November?

Last year, the first acceptances went out on the 25th, a Monday. Tomorrow is Monday the 24th. I wonder if acceptances will start tomorrow.

I applied at the end of September and mine says my application is complete and being considered for Early Decision. I guess that is equivalent to "under review"?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
