Haha. Fair enough, McDuff.
Still, I think most TLS advice applies regardless. Just because someone has the resources to attend DU without taking loans doesn't mean it wouldn't be wiser to wait a year, study harder, retake, improve your LSAT, and reapply next cycle in order to secure a better scholarship.
Regardless of how you're paying, it's always a better choice to pay less.

Just admitted today via phone call and a followup email. I am very excited to have a local option now, though they do want me to make my decision quickly. Sounded like they are putting a bunch of phone calls into folks today to gauge their interest in DU.

I wouldn't be too surprised if DU was having some trouble filling seats, since applications across the board have been down this year.
I actually successfully negotiated scholarship money last week, from sticker to $15k/yr, and I'm guessing that wouldn't have been possible if the class were already full.

Has anyone been able to negotiate an increase in their scholarship? I want to try, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea. I don't want to offend anyone at the school, but with DU being a private institution, extra money would definitely help.

Bummer. I called today to see if there was any chance and admissions says that typically, there is no increase and there isn't much left. But, she put a note into my file stating that I am interested in more scholarship money. Fingers crossed.BizLawyer wrote:I tried recently, but was told the money is all gone.mzl wrote:Has anyone been able to negotiate an increase in their scholarship? DU is a good school but going into 70k debt or more to go there is tough. If you do not get money just re-take and apply early next year. You'll end up going to the same school but cutting your future loan payment down by as much as 1k a month.

In off WL today.
Probably no money so Denver is out of the question for me. Good luck to the rest of you!

Is anyone going to be in the evening program? How does class ranking work in the evening program? Will not having legal employment during the summer months while in law school impact job prospects? Just some questions that I have been pondering.

Oh, my....
I hope you check into the cost of living here in Denver, particularly Englewood and the areas you're discussing... 450.00 is absolutely unheard of for rent anywhere unless you're rooming with someone or in a really seedy place (or happen to know someone perhaps). Income is lower as well, and the attorney markets are saturated. DU is a nice school and a fairly new and good program, and very expensive. Living near light rail around there is at a premium... I'm not sure who this person is saying it's cheap to live here, but he/she might also be selling ocean-front property in Arizona...
