Is there anyone out there who still hasn't gotten a decision from W&M yet?

Don't know if this has been pointed out already but LSN shows about 250+ waitlists (http://wm.lawschoolnumbers.com/applicants/1011/) last year with only 2 acceptances.

2009-2010 had over 350 waitlists, with 0 acceptances (http://wm.lawschoolnumbers.com/applicants/0910/?&p=7)

There's reason to believe, with an applicant drop, and rankings drop, that there will be more movement. But I'm pretty sure this WL in particular should be treated as a rejection.

Still waiting since November. I was told by someone in Admissions last week that we should know by this week, so...tomorrow...maybe.

Just withdrew. Should free up a spot and some big $$ for someone. Good luck!

Ppl say this all the time and neither is necessarily true or even likely.

Are you attending ASW? They told me today the only people who haven't heard they are holding because they're visiting and wanted to do interviews.

I'd definitely call and see what's up- Same situation with me last week and the explained the above.

several people, including dean shealy said money gets reallocated to others! I can't comment on people's acceptances getting reallocated, because it would, if anything, just lead to a wait list for others. But i'm hoping for all of you TLSers out there who really want WM to get someone else's withdrawn acceptance!

My whole take on William and Mary's admission process is this. They leave it open like they decide who they want in their class after March 1st. They state they are not a rolling admissions school. To me it's sort of a facade. It seems that they admit those that they want in their class while holding the other applicants over until March only to waitlist them or reject them. If you look at their waitlist section on the website you will see that they want you to send them ADDITIONAL documentation of why you want to go there. It's sort of like someone who leads a person who is interested in them on. If you jump through more hoops, then maybe you'll get my attention.

My first impression of that school was solidified by my tour guide. I thought the guy was sort of lame and not that great. Their admissions department, however, seemed to think he was a prized asset. We have different expectations of what we are looking for.

I've found a school that better fits my needs and I wish everyone on this particular posting, wherever you are going, a great legal education. Good luck all :).

W&M 2L here who sometimes gives tours.

Sorry you had a bad experience during your tour. Most everyone I know who gives tours give them because they're genuinely interested in helping students figure out if W&M is the right place for them. I hope others won't be deterred by one person's bad experience; I've enjoyed my time here and think it's a great school. Obviously it is not for everyone, but the student body really does have a good sense of community. If you have any questions about the school, feel free to ask me.

Not 100% sure yet. Visited W&L yesterday and definitely prefer W&M hands down. Still have a couple decisions to come in and like 8 wait lists hanging around!!

I think I really need to stop ragging on the person who gave my tour. They seemed like a nice person and were incredibly excited to share their experiences at William and Mary. They were very informative and open to communication if you had further questions. I think I just developed reservations about the school when I toured but yet I decided to go and apply anyway. William and Mary is a good school and those that are lucky enough to attend it are sure to have a great opportunity to learn the law in an awesome environment. Tours are given so you can see what the school is about and if it fits what you are looking for. In my case it allowed me to understand it wasn't for me.

For some reason the analogy to me that comes along is when you go out with someone who is a great person. Despite the fact that they are wonderful, you know in the end they aren't for you. That seems to be the case here. Those it does work for, however, are sure to benefit greatly by attending.

I'm moving closer and closer to deciding on W&M... If they could just make it more affordable!

For those of us who couldn't make it, what did you love about it? Are you a VA resident?

Hello everyone, I got accepted a couple of weeks ago, with a little, very little scholarship. I was not able to attend the admitted students day. I have other options such as a full ride at Hofstra, and an admission at Northwestern with no money, so I'm still debating...
Some of you guys seem to have WM as a top choice, can you please help me learn more about the school so I can decide if I will see you guys in the fall?

Thanks :)

This is going to be generalized but...
Hofstra should not be a choice with your other options.

Balance the following:

Price: 75k COA @ NW per year, versus W&M, should be considerably cheaper. How much debt are you comfortable taking on?
Location: Chicago v. Williamsburg, where do you want to be when you graduate?
Type of Law: Biglaw/PI, NW will place better for biglaw if grades are the same at both schools, not sure about PI

I really liked Williamsburg and thought it was a good balance of small town (few distractions, sense of community), but had enough to do thanks to being a tourist destination (a few decent bars, resturants, entertainment options). Also, being 45 min from cities in either direction is great.

From the outside the law school looks pretty standard, but everything is really nice inside. The library and courtroom were especially impressive. I think the legal skills program sounds pretty cool and I like that there are no sections so you have all your classes with your small legal skills group, but are then mixed in with everyone else.

The ASW was really well done with a nice beer/wine reception Friday night and the normal sessions on Saturday. I really liked a lot of the student's I met and they seemed more well rounded than some of the other schools I visited. Also, everyone seemed to know each other which was a good sign.

I am a VA resident so that definitely plays a part and I know some people that went here and they've gone on to do pretty well and were enthusiastic about the school.

W&M is much cheaper that's true. Loans scare me to death. I am not sure where I want to practice to be honest. Big law, intellectual property law, international law are all part of my interest....
