Every person has a subjective interpretation of the social situation. I found everyone to be great. It's all extremely relative.

UF is my first choice and I was waitlisted. I've visited and met with an admissions counselor and wrote a thank you note and immediately wrote a letter of continuing interest before May 15th. I saw on FB some people have already been accepted off the wait list. Based on your experience do a lot of people get in off the wait list? Thanks!

Deposits were due May 15 and May 16 the Director of Admissions emailed and asked if I was still interested in going there. I responded yes that evening and the next morning I was accepted from the waitlist, so I think that they are trying to fill up the spots left vacant by those who didnt pay their deposits. The only bad part is that they arent reallocating scholarship funds so theres no merit based left.

Does anyone know if there is a way to apply for need-based scholarships for this coming fall semester?

There is a form that you should receive in your admissions packet that you fill out and return to the financial aid office. I believe her name is Carol Huber.

Has anyone checked out the parking situation at the school? Are there any spots usually or even parking for motorcycles?

Scooters are extremely popular at at UF, you'd have no trouble parking a motorcycle.

Yup. Also, I haven't heard of any real problem getting parking, but I also walked to school each day.

Make an account at gatorzone.com/tickets/students. You have to pay $100 in advance to enter the lottery (if you don't get picked they refund). Deadline is coming up, June 4 or 5, I believe.

I am on the waitlist of UF and FSU with UF being my top choice. As I write this I have just gotten accepted to FSU with June 4th being my deadline to reply. Has anyone had any luck with using another school's acceptance as leverage to get an acceptance to the school you want? I don't want to go to FSU and if I don't get into UF I'll be going to FAMU. Any suggestions???

Do not go to FAMU, especially if you got into FSU, the 2nd best law school in the state. FAMU is a terrible law school while FSU is respectable.

JUST GOT ACCEPTED TWO HOURS AGO!!!

According to the email I have three days to decide. Ok everyone, here is my situation: I am going to be one of the self-obsessed people who tries to get everyone to talk about me for a moment. I have the Post 9/11 GI Bill and so far I have been accepted to:

The University of Tennessee (full scholarship + $900 a month for housing)
The University of Maryland ($17,500 + $2000 a month for housing). School costs $35,000 a year.
The University of Florida ($17,500 + $1200 a month for housing). School costs $38,000 a year.

What do you guys think? (for the record, I am interested in working for the SEC, not the NCAA conference!)

Tuition isn't $17,500 anymore, unless you have a scholarship. It will be ~$21k next year.

And if you're looking to work for the SEC, you may want to retake the LSAT.

If there are no stips and you're fine with working in Tennessee, take Tennessee. Free + extra money makes Tennessee worth it here.

No, they threw in some extra money to make it paid for. Well, I am not retaking the LSAT. I just don't have the time and I don't want to wait another year. Is there a reason you say this? I am always looking for insight.

I hope I didn't sound too negative, just wanted to give you a realistic idea of your opportunities. Getting a BigGov job out of UF will require you be at the very top of the class, and even then your chances are slim. UF is a regional school, as are the others you mentioned.

He's saying that because UF won't get you a job at the SEC.

If you want to get into a school that will get you a job there, you need to retake the LSAT> Better to wait a year and get the job you want, right?

these are simply not schools from which people end up at the SEC. You decision here should come down to, along with money, which of these three states you could see yourself practicing law in for the long term. Also, if you could get residency at Florida after a year, I'd say take UF. If not, Tennessee.

Ok, thanks for all your input. Just out of curiosity, what rank of school do you believe would qualify for the SEC? I am still on the waitlist at Notre Dame. Do you think that is better?

Despite the lay prestige of Notre Dame, it is largely a regional school. You need to be in or very near the Top 14 to have a shot at the SEC.

Confused by all this SEC talk. I would think UF would be a natural choice, particularly if you want to be involved w/ the football program. (this is a joke to all of you hanging on too tight) As for the question of how cool/ uncool the students are here, I'll say this...it's a pretty conservative lot, but even as a liberal, I found just about everyone pretty likeable. You'll hear a lot of 'gunner' lore, but from my experience it's not the ones at the top who act like a-holes, it's the ones who wanted/ expected to be at the top and can't there. For all of you waitlisted or still waiting to get in, I was in your shoes at this time last year, and I'm quite happy in the top 1/3 after year one. Good luck!
