Have you received your decision letter yet? Mine's supposedly headed to my parent's house in Texas because I was moving from one place to another during the application cycle, and I'm a bit stir-crazy waiting on it to show up.

I have been waiting since the 19th how long does it take to mail a letter boo.

same here, Gainesville res.

According to the USPS website, 2-3 days anywhere in the US. Yes, I researched it. I already know I'm lame. Anyways, under mailings on my Online Status Checker it says it was actually mailed on the 20th, even though the "notice issued" date said the 19th so I'm hopeful for Tuesday, but would really expect something no later than Wednesday.

I'm just sure my mom would love me to focus on work instead of calling her 3 times a day reminding her to check the mail....

I live in Gainesville. I think my status checker changed on a Monday and I received my letter that Saturday.

status finally updated to Final Decision Reached, Notice Issued. No email yet rejecting me...how long between updating and emailing does it usually take? otherwise does this mean they are snail mailing me?

It took about a week for the letter to reach me in-state. I didn't get any notifications via email.

Mine took one day from updating to FDR,NI to indicate that the notice had been mailed to me. According to everyone else above, it takes a total of six days total to reach you, no matter the distance.

*I came to FSU as an out-of-state student who gained residency my junior year after my father sold out house in Michigan and moved to Florida. It was nightmare, but this is what I learned.

Change your drivers liscense/car tags ASAP... you will need to have reached a year before classes begin the next year, in this case 2L

Maintain residency for a year in Florida, make sure you have a lease in your name for 12 straight months in florida (Again 12 months before the start of 2L.)

Applying to the Florida Bar I've heard is huge for gaining residency in Law School, shows your committed to staying in FL after Law School.

Good Luck!

Has anyone had luck negotiating scholarships? I have two scholarships from T30 schools with no stips so I was curious if it can be done with UF.

It CAN be done, but I believe it's rare.

When I brought it up to the financial aid office, they did not seem receptive at all. They pointed me in the direction of need-based (documents in transit as of now) but no school has yet to pony up funds in that category so I don't expect it to happen here.

I don't think they gave out too many grants first semester, but they gave out quite a few need-based grants second semester to 1Ls. Not sure why they would do that over first semester, but who knows. Have you spoken with Carol Huber? Alternatively, you could try directly contacting the dean and playing the whole "UF is my first choice, I really want to go here, but it's just not financially responsible at this point unless I have more money."

I think I will do that. Thanks for the tip. I'll wait until they make a decision on what kind of need I have and go from there. Still a little time before the seat deposit.
